The update took about 10 minutes, probably because this isn't a fancy pants Ranger. =p

I followed the USB instructions and as soon as I put the USB in, it started. The only snag I have is that the XML file that is created after the update won't upload onto Ford.com. I imagine that's important for warranty purposes.

Thinking you're ok, or you would have received 'Upload/Update Failed'. Not worth loosing sleep over.

Thanks! I did see that the wireless connection should update the status, so I'll try that.

Plus, I'll hold on to that XML file in case anything ever came up about it.

Thanks for the peace of mind and this is the kind of thing that does ruminate in my head as I go to sleep!

Just updated my XL and like you I'm not able to upload the confirmation file. Keep getting the failed message from Ford. I might try later on tonight seeing if off peak times might help. I think it took longer to download off the web than the install.

Tried again and still no joy. Might just say heck with it, but I'll probably try a couple more times before I do.

Has anybody been able to get a successful upload after a failed attempt?

I also couldn't upload the .xml file, with a couple of attempts over a few days.
I was going to try again, but my wife was using our main laptop (win 11) so I used my old laptop
(win 10 - not enough mem for win 11) and it uploaded like a champ.
I have NO idea if that had anything to do with anything!
But maybe a setting in the new win 11 (firewall?) is preventing the upload?
I dunno.
I just thought I'd mention it, in case it means something to someone more computer savy than me.
See ya.

I'm currently running 10 on my laptop for forscan, but my main laptop is running Linux and my wife's is 10 to. I guess I can try those and see?

ps: I did put an entry under service records that I updated Sync to the updated version

The upload really doesn't matter. At most it might prevent ford from nagging you to do the update (it also might not, they aren't that well organized). If you have wifi connected it will eventually figure it out regardless of the upload. I'm confident that nobody at Ford cares about a manual maintenance log entry for a sync update.

Your probably right about the log entry but its nice to keep track for your own records. Went ahead and activated the wifi to see if this will get it done. Always a possibility if they see you have older updates that need to be done you might not be able to update to new release until there records show the past updates have been done.

no, it should just update everything the next time there's a release. the post-install file really isn't that useful except for ford internal metrics, which is probably why fixing it doesn't seem to be a priority.

Anyone having issues with touch screen since doing update?? I have a 2020 Ranger Lariat, no nav system. Day after update 10/24/22 the screen acted like it had a mind of its own...would change temps, turn fan up, turn system on and off, change radio stations and anything else it wanted to do...couldn't shut display off to even use the HVAC controls, so no AC unless held my finger on the MAX AC button. To add to the problem I have gotten the your battery is low so remote features will not work until you start your vehicle message a couple times. Dealer is out 3 weeks for a service appointment.

Have done, Master reset 3 times and pulled fuses.

Hello David
Congrats on your 22 Ranger.
Build 21194 solved many on going issues with SYNC but it is not the latest. The latest Build is 22200. I don't know if your model is equipped to handle the latest but if so, that's what I would do.
i wonder if that update fixes the screen freeze issues?

before doing the master reset, turn off the mode that tells the truck to communicate with the internet via wifi etc, then do the master reset and do not ever again get updates or communicate with the internet, EVER!! I've had the same issues with my 2019 and had to do all of the above. Needless to say, you wont be able to use the myford app on your phone etc

Thanks, I'll give it a try after the dealer tells me everything is fine and I have to fix it myself...again thanks for the heads up....do you recommend shutting off Auto updates?

Did you ever get the xml file to upload? I waited a month like Ford customer care said to and did the current update and still no luck. The truck shows it is updated and even connected to WiFi and checked for updates and it says it’s up to date and ford site still will not show it is updated.
