Hello, all -- Just so you know, I did read the previous posts on all 24 pages of this thread, so if I missed something, please be gentle. At the risk of being redundant, I own a 2019 Lariat 4X4 with nav. I am running SYNC3 3.4.21020 and nav maps NA 118. While attempting to upgrade via USB to the most recent nav maps, I learned (via the Automatic System Updates screen) that my system is attempting to install 4U5T-14G422-CAH_1625428946000.TAR.GZ (which is funny, because I thought that file was part of the 21020 build). Problem is, I have had my truck running for three hours yesterday and four hours today, and the "progress" bar on the installation screen has not budged beyond roughly the 50% threshold. I assume because the truck thinks that the installation is not yet complete, the system won't to begin to install my map upgrade. Any thoughts? Please??? I am just about ready to leave the truck running, close the garage door and start breathing in deeply.

I feel for you, having gone through all the pages.

My history with SYNC:
  • New vehicle 12-14-19 with Build 19200 Map 118
  • 1/26/21 Build 20282
  • 5/2/21 Build 21020
  • 5/3/21 Maps to NA 119
  • 5/10/21 Maps to NA 220 by OTA
  • 7/04/21 Build 21098
  • 8/11/21 Build 21194 by using CyanLabs

All features of SYNC now working perfectly. I found that sometimes I just had to start over with an upgrade in order for the install to be successful. You might try that. I also found that using CyanLabs was much easier and cleaner install than using the Ford site downloads.
Another note is that @RedRanger said that the Map upgrade to 2 20 was not available for 2019 vehicles. I don't know if this is true or not.

Good luck.

2 20 is available for 2019s. I’m guessing it may be the last free update provided by Ford as 2018 models had to start paying this year.

Thanks for the feedback, brother. I'd love to be able to restart anything at any part of the process. Problem is, I don't know how to interrupt/stop this (apparently failed) attempt to install 4U5T-14G422-CAH_1625428946000.TAR.GZ which is what I believe is creating the log jam. Thoughts, anyone?

Thank you for the feedback. I was wondering, since I didn't take advantage of the 119 NA map update, was I entitled to one free geographic upgrade, the 220? In any event, I was able to download the latest NA map upgrade (within the last couple of days) to a USB. Problem is, SYNC won't begin to process that update because it thinks it is still trying to install 4U5T-14G422-CAH_1625428946000.TAR.GZ. Any thoughts on how to interrupt this (apparently failed) attempted file install?

I am not sure how to kill an in progress wifi update. Are you sure it is on the same file? I believe there are about 13 files in total for the map update over wifi. Mine took days to complete. Also, I would make sure the truck is getting a good connection to the wifi. You can check the update progress occasionally to wake it up after it shuts down in the background. This should help it finish sooner.

I've been looking at the screen below for the last two days.

Also, based on a post I read in this thread, I changed the connection from my 5.0 wireless network to my 2.4 wireless network. My garage shares a common wall with my office, which is where my wireless router is based, so I know the connection is solid.

I really appreciate your feedback. Any other suggestions?

Master reset?
Yeah...that's my absolute last resort...I just don't want to go through readjusting all of the preferences that I assume a master reset will wipe away.

maybe turning off automatic updates may stop it?

Much appreciated. I believe I may have tried that, along with turning off WiFi. The problem, I think, is that in the screen I posted above, the hang up appears to be in the installation of the file, as if it has already been downloaded.

I guess you could try pulling the fuse or even disconnecting the battery to hard reboot the system.

You may just have to take it to a dealer to get them to take care of it if nothing else works. Of course, that will probably involve a complete reset and you'll have to set up everything again.

Maybe @UofMEngineer has seen this before and can help.....

Thanks, Alan -- I kind of wondered about that myself. Before I try it, can anyone let me know the implications of a battery disconnect (e.g., what other systems will be impacted, what else I may have to reset, etc.)?

Basically just the one touch up/down for the driver's side window.
