Man there’s a lot of prickly old farts on this message board, huh?
How do you think we got to be old farts? We had to survive the 60s and 70s. Remember the muscle car era.:thumbsup:

It was Mopar madness at my parents house back then. My brother’s ‘74 Cuda, my ‘73 Roadrunner, the neighbour’s ‘74 Charger R/T, and my dad’s modified ‘69 Fargo P/U (fastest three on the tree in town). My other brother broke tradition with his ‘74 Camaro. How we all survived is a mystery.

1974 Cuda- 245 hrsprs
1973 Road Runner-280 hrsprs IF it was 440
'74 Charger R/T-370 hrsprs, now we're getting somewhere.
'74 Camaro-245hrsprs

You all survived because the cars weren't THAT fast. We remember them fondly but reality is that your Ranger is faster than all of those in the quarter mile.

I was in the Mopar club also. '70 340 'Cuda. Totaled it out on a guard rail bridge at 130 mph, walked away. Like you said how did we all survive? ?‍♂ Only reason I know.☝ ?

130 mph? Bad gas or was it out of tune?

Stock against stock might be close, making a lot more HP with less CID. Still can't beat a V8 for torque. Also need to remember we were on bias ply tires and some pretty bad suspensions. Wasn't the quarter miles speeds that killed us it was the handling at top end. That and a little alcohol didn't help.

Sure, I get that but survival is a mystery because every trip to school, the mall, 7-Eleven or to pick up our girlfriends was like an episode of Pinks.

Ahh, the 340. After my Vietnam cruise I bought a 71 Dodge Demon with 340, 727 transmission and factory 4:11 gears. What an awesome car. The guy I sold it to totaled it within 24 hours. Should of kept it.

My 'Cuda was a New Process 4 speed with 3.55 posi. That 340 wound so fast 1st gear wasn't good for much but launch. Needed to hit 2nd quick as 5500 shift point came up real fast. 4th gear rubber at 95 MPH. Those were the days.

im not even going to google anything else. sit down in the corner over there. you're embarassing yourself. I dont even have to try hard to do that.
IF it was a 440 Magnum.

More likely a 340 @ 16 seconds.

If you think this is embarrassing we need to party!

This is absolutely the truth.

One can forget that eventually you'll need to turn when intoxicated by tire spinning torque and barley pops.

Wouldn't have been any different if we were driving Toyota Camrys. At that age EVERY car is a hotrod and every foot of road is a track.

And we sure as heck weren't worried about our cars recognizing a speed limit sign so our vehicles could control our driving! That's sounding like having your mom driving you to the theater with your date..... No Thanks!
