Not sure why it was happening either. The problem did go away never to reappear after I removed the sensor from the spare though.

That's a Ford dealer offering that? Cool. Wonder what they use to actually remove the carbon? From what I've read chemicals won't do the job. It actually takes abrasives ( walnut shells) to get it done. When you do it let us know how how it turned out.

I'm really struck by how quick these engines sheer down oil viscosity, even in engines that don't have the fuel in oil problem. I was planning on 5k oil change intervals but may have to lower that. There is no way I would go by the oil change monitor.

I believe in staying on top of my vehicles' maintenance. Not complaining or being funny but just how do you do that with this engine? Those that have the fuel in the oil problem don't seem to be getting much help from Ford. Happily I do not have this problem, at least not at the moment...
