Well since my ranger electronics system keeps screwing up, I'm about ready for a dodge.
They dropped Dodge years ago, now it's just Ram for their trucks.

If you're interested in the existing Dakota's specs:

https://www.ram.com.ar/dakota
https://www.ram.com/mx/ram-1200.html

Reportedly it "will share nothing but the name, designed and built from the ground up to compete in the intensely competitive U.S. midsize segment"
https://gmauthority.com/blog/2025/1...pcoming-midsize-pickup-name-in-north-america/

Wonder what will power it... This also dashes my hopes for a 2dr Gladiator. But I don't like ads in my car anyway...

Watch out for that AI slop/misinformation out there 😜

I told you that video (since deleted) was fake. You really have to be careful these days with all the crazy AI stuff out there.

After scouring the interwebs, I found authentic images of the upcoming RAM Dakota. Here’s it is…this is EXACTLY what it will look like…

I've said this before and I am going to say it again. I'm with the Ford blue oval for Life. If Grandpa saw me driving something that was not a Ford, he'd, well he wouldn't be to happy with me.

I just want quality, and with 40 years experience as an auto tech I can see with my own eyes FORD has NONE. Since covid anyway. I have 3 fords a 19 mustang gt pre covid, quality car. A 21 escape built in covid and its junk. The seats came apart, injectors leak 4 recalls for safety and the doors falling apart. Has 38k on it now. At dealer getting door replaced now under recall. Just a junk car. Then the 22 ranger again, failed coming home from the dealership. Bad knock sensor seven trips to the dealer for defects. No way I'd even look at another Ford product. And it's only 34.5k on it. So don't care what Dad or Grandpa drove Ive worked to hard to spend my money on junk!

Lol, they're all junk, every single one of them. Some are junkier than others, but all of the maufs are turning out crap.

It's not that I trust Ford more, but I trust Stellantis even less.

I don't ever see myself spending my money on anything made by Stellantis! They've even managed to drag down the Jeep line.

This!! Now I'm not loyal to no one but my own wallet. Yes I've been a Ford guy for 30+ years but if something better comes along I'm buying it. Like you I've worked to hard for my money and couldn't care less what anyone else says or thinks. Unfortunately, just about everything made is junk now from clothing to appliances to vehicles. Being loyal means nothing to manufactures (all of them!) anymore and for them it's all about their bottom line and pleasing share holders. Sadly, the customer comes last.

It will probably have a version of their 2.0 Turbo.

https://media.stellantisnorthamerica.com/newsrelease.do?id=27166&mid=1

And as bad as Ford's engineering can be, Stellantis usually is right behind them with a 'hold my beer' design dumbfuckery.

At least it will probably have the ZF8 in it.

Good eye on the engine; you're most likely right. I'd buy Fords worst offering twice over before considering Stellantis. (and all of my previous cars have been GM)

I'm still hoping Slate brings all 3 to their knees... but we'll see.

You just described late-stage capitalism :flag:

With Stellantis cratering in sales and profits, I wonder if the Dakota will even happen at all.

And as far as current vehicle quality, the conspiracy part of me starts to wonder if this might be part of the WEF "You'll Own Nothing And You'll Be Happy" mantra.

With ALL the manufacturers churning out junk lately, the odds of buying a vehicle that will last 20+ years is slim.

The car might not last 20 years but more and more often the payments are lasting 8+ years if you purchase.

Automobiles are going the way of modern major appliances that seem to be designed to conk out after the warranty. The term is Planned Obsolescence.

If you are resigned to always having a car payment, why pay full price for a car when you can lease it and it will always be under (absolutely needed) warranty? Then you chuck it and get another one.

There are even neighborhoods cropping up in our area where you can't BUY any house in the development. You can only LEASE it for a period of time.

Hold on, there's a black helicopter outside and my tin foil hat is slipping.

I need to go tighten it up.
