When I was growing up, the only anime I recall was Speed Racer, except I didn’t know it was anime at the time - I just thought it was janky animation like in Rocket Robin Hood (Cdn) or The Mighty Hercules.

My fiance introduced me to studio ghibli, which is like Japanese Disney I guess you could say. A lot of great movies, way deeper psychologically than disney. Growing up I really didn't care for anime apart from assorted dragon ball stuff lol.

Still.. apart from ghibli movies, dragon ball, and sailor moon.. I'm relatively uninitiated into the stuff. I do know that Cowboy Bebop is pretty popular
Oh me and my daughter love watching Porco Rosso, Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, etc etc

The only anime I ever got into was Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

The Wave Motion Gun is a melon thumper!

Really good stuff.

Later on in life I would often ponder what possessed me to ask such an absurd question at that exact time. The only answer I can have is I had heard one too many lady boy jokes over my lifetime and it somehow got ingrained on my brain that when a lady has a secret to tell you = DICKS.

Its terrible, not very mature at all, but it is what it is.

Here is a little something special for your day:

that old man is a genius! I loved his song. Id pay to hear some one do a really good version with a harry connick jr or Dean martin voice .

Boy, talk about topic diversions on this forum!
We went from an oversized camper on a ranger to finding out we have a bunch of members who are Weebs that are into anime, and some will justify by saying "my kids and I".

PS
Don't get upset, I am just ribbing y'all. They didn't have anything like those when I was growing up. The only cartoons I watched were the shorts like Looney Tunes.

When I was a kid I rushed home from school to watch Star Blazers which is the original Space Battleship Yamato, though for whatever reason they called it the Argo in Star Blazers.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is the updated retelling of a very similar story with much higher production qualities.

Love the bit where the alien provided us with FTL technology and then was shocked, I say absolutely shocked, when the humans adapted that technology to make an uber powerful weapon

Back when cartoons were the real deal.

Foghorn Leghorn. The rooster. The myth. The legend.

That was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid too. I also watched Ultraman but wasn't a big fan of it. I also liked Johnny Sokko and his flying robot. I was dying for a jetpack. I figured we'd have them soon after watching the show....I'm still waiting.

Last animes I've watched myself were stuff like Black lagoon, Ghost in the shell, Blue gender(not what you think...) and others. Mostly adult themed shows.

Though I did watch this long time ago...

The only animated cartoon on the big screen I remember from my childhood was Fritz the Cat ?. Glad there wasn't a sequel.
