I got old Ranger from a friend with no engine or tranny to cut in half and make a trailer out
of it. Then I started thinking about pulling the shell off it, made a few measurements and decided I would slide it on to see how close or not it would be. It’s about a inch or so too narrow in the front. But I can make that work. What do you guys think? My Ranger isn’t exactly a beauty contest winner anyway, function over form.

Looks good! Can you take some close up pictures of the corners?

I'm shocked it's that close! The old rangers look tiny compared to the new ones.

That's the funny thing about the old Rangers... they look so damn small, but the beds have basically the same dimensions. Trick of perception.

I guess it's not just rangers. I had a scab yota and they look tiny beside the new ranger. I have and old bed tent, and need to break it out (to sell) and compare it in the new ranger.

I think the black looks fine on the white truck since your truck has black trim!

Don't forget you are going to need to get a center mount rear high brake light mounted on the cap... that's a Federal law that there be one there if the view to the one on the back of the truck cab is obscured (on any truck 1994 or newer, unless it's one of the few models that had the brake light built into the truck's tailgate). You're not supposed to be able to get vehicle to pass state inspection if the one on the cap is not functioning or just not there at all. Don't try to just splice the wiring in, make sure to get the proper wiring harness. Most cap dealers have them on hand.
