My Final Adventure in Ranger Territory (fair warning its a long read if you check out the whole thing haha)
Good night sweet prince;
I plan to carry on the SPEC-R3 moniker and plan to continue my work with some industry people I've come to become acquaintances with. I need to alter the abbreviation slightly, but I think I have an idea how to carry on the name, but without the Ranger attachment it was originally created for. An idea I've mulled over;
Ready. Rapid. Respond. - Kind of like a "slogan" mindset.
Someone had tossed out the idea along the lines of "Rapid Response Rescue" - but it just comes off kind of generic. If anyone else has any catchy ideas I'm all ears.
Not sure if I will have enough time to make it to Overland EXPO East this year, or SEMA, but by next year for sure.
First order of business is the short list. Originally a local dealer was going to buy my Ranger as-is for a surprisingly generous amount considering that after-market and custom fabrication work returns pennies on the dollar. However after further thought the price being offered still wouldn't make sense based on replacing parts on current market values. So the dealership I got my ZR2 from gave me a fair price on trade in for my Ranger, but only with the suspension, wheels/tires, and decked bed system. I kept my custom fabricated monolithic over the cab rack components and my RCI bed rack. The top rack will be scavanged so I can move on to some lighter weight designs (using extruded aluminum) and get away from a majority steel design.
These past two days I've finally gotten some time to proceed.
1.) Clean / Fresh Paint on bed rack before install
2.) Re-install 8-pod gas strut storage pods with new extruded aluminum support design.
By End of Week Tasks:
1.) De-badge all "Colorado" lettering (both front doors & rear trunk
2.) Remove all stickers (ZR2 decals on bedsides)
3.) Black out flowtie
4.) Temporarily reinstall my forward facing spot lights on the bed rack while I construct the new monolithic 8 foot over the cab platform
5.) Remove two factory step rails (don't like them at all)
Long Term List: (* alot of these are waiting until someone actually makes the product type deals)
1.) Leafs (TBD) (my old setup was pushing 700+ pounds of gear)
2.) Tuner (TBD) (to also address terrible e-throttle controller response from factory)
3.) SPEC-R3 vinyl graphic work (same design as my old Ranger with the 2 hash wrap around design
4.) Gamin PowerSwitch (now has Infotainment Center integration via Android Auto)
5.) Wheels (TBD)
6.) Exhaust (TBD)
7.) Upgrade to Mickey Thompson 255/85/17 Baja Boss Tires (35" pizza cutters!)
