Every other new vehicle I've ever bought had a full tank of gas... except this one. Whatever... it is what it is. I wanted to fill it up with 91 octane top tier fuel anyway.I thought it was an unwritten rule that all new vehicles are delivered with a full tank.
It’d be out of the dealer’s pockets, they’re the ones that fill it up.its not chump change for Ford to fuel your vehicle for you
just the ranger alone, at over 89000 units this year, at todays gas prices is over $4 million dollars.
Go figure why they chose profits, they are a business
Most definitely. The truck I purchased it was right in the quote, $60ish for fuel. I mentioned that other vehicles I purchased came with a full tank at no charge and it was removed.theyre still a business looking to make the bottom line.
I know people have been accustomed to the freebie...but i bet a dealer who fills them full has already reflected that "freebie" in the price you paid

I am near 60 and have been through quite a few auto purchases in my life. I have never taken delivery of a new or used vehicle and the tank wasn't on full. That is until I picked up this Ranger. Worst. Dealer. Ever. I actually sputtered into the nearest station a couple blocks away from the stealership when I picked the truck up and noticed it was on E.
It isn't $15 in gas, at least not around here - more like $50. And for me, it is an "appearance" thing. Every vehicle I've purchased, minus one - came with a full tank - and the one that didn't left a sour note in my mind. We barely had enough gas to make it to the gas station. I don't believe we ever went back to that dealer. When you spend a lot of $$$ on a new vehicle, I don't think it is asking to much to be able to drive it home with a full tank. Again, it is absolutely a dealer call, but it gets to the heart of how the dealer treats its customers I think. And I wouldn't use a dealer that didn't feel it was important. With all of the options in today's world on how/where to purchase a new vehicle, it seems awfully short sighted of a dealer to scrimp on things like this.many may do it and absorb the cost (ie bill you through the back door) thats their choice, but it is not a condition of a sale like a full pan of oil is. profits are profits.
as long as theres enough gas to drive it off the lot, thats the business decision they made.
it may only hurt them if the dealer down the road offers it as a perk and you're shallow enough to use that at the only reason to go there. Yay I gots me an extra $15 of gas, I won!!!!!
The real pudding is what the PDI checklist says....you can bet Ford Corporate doesn't have that box to be checked as "full"
IMO it's more that it seems like the dealer is cutting corners. If they took the truck on a test drive they'd need to put gas in it, right? So, basically, they just never got around to it and figured they could get away with it. It's like the PDI failures related to tire pressure and washer fluid--it's not a big deal for the buyer to fix the pressure and top off the washer fluid, but it makes you wonder what else the dealer doesn't do right. Or maybe, as in my case, they found the time to wash the car and put shitty tire shine on the tires but still didn't fill the washer fluid or fix the tire pressure--so they either care more about looks than substance or are just incompetent.its also fair to say you just spent $40g's and are complaining about $50 bucks in gas. who's scrimping there?? Both sides of the fence are cheap ass
