Can you elaborate on what those things might be? Trying to stay out of trouble myself ?
These said things are revert back to stock and clear memory in the com with the FACTORY scan tool. Aftermarket scan tools wont do the trick.

aren't most power train problems found at relatively early miles? I was thinking about a tune but waiting until I have over 20-30K on it figuring if there was a flaw it would show up by them.

You are not wrong but if you dont do the maintenance like you are supposed to then failure will happen without a tune, the question is when.

I stay on top of scheduled fluid changes an tire rotations, inspect the brake pads when rotating the tires an change filters. I' don't do those "inspections" some vehicles have in their schedules. I run top tier gas an use quality oil an ford oil filters. I bought the extended warranty on my 3 new fords before the ranger an never used them. I didn't buy it this time (hope I don't regret it).

Out of curiosity at what mileage interval do you change the oil?

On my 14 focus an 16 fusion I went 7K the factory said 7500 an the oil life never got below 30% remaining. On the ranger I'm going to go 5K since it's turbocharged. I did the first one at 3K. I have an oil analysis kit for when I do the next change.

Yeah with you doing the oil changes every 5k you should be plenty fine. I would only do the oil analysis if I was suspecting a problem. I am almost to 20k and I added ky tune at about 17k and it is doing well. The tow tune just got released and I am going to see how the truck acts with it compared to the high octane performance tune.

The main reason I'm doing an analysis is this is my first change after getting rid of the factory oil. Mainly I'm wanting to see fuel %. I went with Rotella gas truck oil. I'll probably get a 87 daily/tow tune an a 91 tune. Not every station has 93.

If you go to Livernois you get these tunes, low octane performance(87-89), high octane performance(91-93), and towing(flex from 87 to 93). I started with the high octane and liked the extra performance even though the transmission felt weird on the 1 2 3 shift like it would lurch forward when shifting. Mpg went up and made overall efficiency nice. After this weekend I will have an opinion on the tow tune. I will also mention that unlike 5 Star Livernois automatically adjusts for any altitude so if you ever go to high altitude places like the Rockies you wont have a problem. Very important for.me since with all the technology we have today it shouldn't be a problem to do this.

So I have an update with the towing tune. It is Flex from 87 to 93 octane. Comparing to the high octane performance tune I like it a lot better. No it doesn't have as much power as you would get with the performance tune but you get better low-end power performance. The biggest thing I noticed especially with being here in the mountains of Colorado is that on a steep hill it will hold a lower gear better than both stock and performance tune. For me that's big since the less hunting of gears the better fuel mileage I'm going to get. I did a trip over 300 miles today that had some pretty good grades and I had both wind at my back and from the front. For my average mpg I ended up getting about 27. What all do I have done to my truck? Simple I have the old man emu lift kit with Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 tires at size 265 70 17. I also recently added at the FX4 front skid plate and don't have any air deflectors in front of my tires. Just from that I can say I'm impressed. Livernois did a great job on this!!!

Thanks for reviewing the tow tune. I'm still hoping the performance tune shifts smooth out a bit. The lurch from 1st to 2nd is definitely jarring. I have one they provided that is supposed to soften the shifts so I'll be giving that a try next if the original performance tune's 1-2 shift remains too harsh. The misses does not approve at the moment. ?

Took it on a family outing today and it sure is fun!

Planning on doing some bolt on performance parts and the new turbo upgrade.
Will the Livernois tune take those upgrades into consideration as the intake/exhaust will be upgraded as well as the dp and intercooler?
Thanks
Thanks for your interest in our products and services!

We do offer tune updates or further adjustments for additional modifications. Intake , exhaust, intercoolers, and downpipes are all examples of supported modifications we could offer remote tuning for. However aftermarket turbo upgrades often times would require traditional dyno tuning hands on in the shop and can occasionally require additional supporting modifications such as fuel system upgrades or methanol injection to provide the necessary fueling. So I usually suggest to reach out and discuss your future modifications with us to make sure they are supported for remote tuning to be safe.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with the tunes and for the kind words as well. Glad to hear you've been enjoying the updated towing tune! That MPG sounds great especially with the larger tires. Thanks again for the feedback guys!

Curious, what are your daily driving mpg with the tune?
I do mostly suburban and some highway driving and I average 22.5 as a rule. When I have taken the Ranger on a trip I get 26+ if I keep it at 78 and below...

saw a few questions that I also wanted to answer on here as well. All of our Mycal tuning devices include lifetime tuning and support so long as you own the device. This includes all current and future tune revisions as well. It's usually listed on the tuner page for each vehicle of the website, so thanks for bringing that to our attention.
I can attest to this statement. I originally bout my tuner for a Ford Explorer, when I traded the Explorer for my Ranger I sent my Tuner back to Livernois with documentation showing the sale of the Explorer and the purchase of the Ranger. Livernois reprogramed my Tuner and provided me with the Ranger tunes I requested, all it cost me was shipping both ways! I am a Livernois customer for life! :)
