New England was a great place to live up into my 60's . Honestly, when my wife retires this year, she will be putting on a search for renting or buying a home in a warmer, more tax friendly state.
I made 'till 51 and had enough of the cold, rain and dreary weather along with the high taxes. We did have a lot of fun there growing up and snowmobiling up in NH. ME and Canada was really fun and some of the nicest scenery you'll ever see deep in the trails.

Where we are now is very tax friendly. No school tax (so your property tax bill is less) and the sales tax is lower than most of the state at just over 5%. We (mostly me because Annies always cold) couldn't stand the heat in Phoenix any longer so this was a nice happy medium. At 3.000' the summers aren't that bad and it cools off at night and so far winter has been perfect with cool nights and warm days. :tumbleweed:

My original battery lasted @ 18 months. It was replaced by Ford under warranty. I am in Arizona and the heat is very hard on batteries. When the battery started declining, the first thing I noticed was that the auto start-stop stopped working. Then I started getting warnings on the FordPass mobile app that features were being shut down.

My replacement battery, which is now over 2 years old, may be on the verge of being evaluated. The auto start-stop stopped working but I have not been getting any warnings on the FordPass app yet. Just this past weekend, I ran into a store for a few items (@ 10 minutes). When I came out, I used the remote to open the doors and then my Ranger went totally dead. It had zero power and nothing electrical worked. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes and then the electrical power came back and it was like nothing happened. It has been fine ever since. I am debating if I should take it into my local Ford dealer to be looked at. My concern is it will sit on their lot for a week and then they will tell me they cannot find anything wrong with it.

If your maintainer has a desulfate mode, I would run that. I saved my neighbors battery that was way worse than that.
CTEK Step 1 is desulphation.

It is very difficult to get the Topdon clamps properly connected to the battery with the bus work/clamps attached to get an accurate reading. If in doubt, remove the battery cables/connections from both battery posts and retest for the most accurate reading.
Tested again after driving earlier today. Numbers were slightly worse. Pretty sure the connection is good. I forced the clamps to grip harder.

On the first test on our Santa Fe (new battery), Topdon message said "check connections". After reseating, readings were good.

Bought mine in January 2020 and I still have the original battery. The auto start feature on my ford pass was not working for awhile but with the recent app update it works now …. Probably gonna get a new one soon though

4/21 build date, 95,358mi: It still load tests good as of September, no "Systems off to conserve battery" messages.

6 years and 1 month with original battery and 82,000 miles. Auto stop start had stopped working a couple months prior ro this and I had gotten a couple of error messages so replaced it before winter really hit. I live in Wyoming.

I bought a 2020 Ranger 4X4 in February 2020. In October 2023 I got an Odyssey battery to replace the OEM one. I've had a number of Odyssey batteries and was very pleased with all of them. Well we know where this is going. This morning the battery was dead. Only 2 1/4 years. Bye, bye Odyssey! Premium price with ?standard? life. NO

‘19 Ranger - bought March ‘19 (assembled in Jan I believe). Still original battery.

‘17 Escape - bought October’16. Still original battery.

I disable auto-start/stop every time I drive (part of the start up/take-off procedures!). A couple years ago people didn’t seem sold on AGM batteries but my experience has obviously been positive (knocking wood that I didn’t jinx myself).

This is in a climate that gets both hot and cold through the seasons, which I’m pretty sure actually helps prolong the life of them.
I think she’s on her way. Last night on about a half hour driving started to get lights lighting up (mostly front radar and charging system).

I still need my Sync to be updated properly, but it gave the message that it was shutting down also.

fun drive wondering what was coming next. Lot’s o lights came up at one point.

after sitting overnight she’s good again.

I need to do oil and tires anyways, but guess I’m gonna add another $400 - 500 now (after 7 years) to the bill.

Escape is pushing 10 years on the original AGM battery…

I turn off the ASS every time I get into either vehicle btw…

Cheers,

Five years on mine this May, I'm waiting to see if somebody has a battery sale sometime this year. The ASS is staying off more on its own now, but no light show or other stuff turning off.

Is that a thing? I’ve never heard of of batteries going on sale (but I’m Canadian so what do I know lol)

It’d be nice when I see my favourite service advisor tomorrow (or Monday), so I’ll have to ask her 🙂
