What’s your favourite (non-tailgate damper) mod you’ve done, for under $100?

You know pondering on this I remember another mod that bang for the buck if you don’t have it was well worth the price. The TM button 4W drive switch replacement/mod. That has come in handy and I’m sure it will continue to.
Yep, did the same. Just under $100 not including the obd2 cable and forscan.

Tinting the drivers and passengers side windows
I've done that too, and in my book it's worth it to go with the top end tint (in my case, ceramic).

Interestingly, the guy who tinted it told me that that rear privacy glass doesn't really provide any UV protection. He suggested a clear ceramic tint over it to keep the same level of tint but with actual UV protection.

In my state those are illegal. Some were made to block the toll road plate readers, so now all of them are illegal.

Unless I'm missing where the front side amber reflector is now, that is also not legal. But if you have the AlphaRex headlights they add the reflector back, so the vehicle would be legal again.

I just point out non DOT/legal things for informational reasons for others that may be interested so they know.

Yeah, the AAwireless is more or less the top of my list, but I bought that for the RS and just moved it to the Ranger.
Unless I get pulled over by cop Karen I should be ok. The decision was based on aesthetics not on what is DOT legal but I drive with my headlights in auto position so when I'm driving, I believe these lights are always on. Shouldn't that be the same visual awareness as having a reflector?

Got the Dee Zee step in yesterday, and mounted it today.
This is the best $75 bucks I've spent. Left foot on step and up onto tailgate.
My old creaky knees are sighing with relief.

Have you looked at the front of your truck? I may be misunderstanding you:
  • Autolamp turns on the headlights and taillights only when it is dark enough, turns them back off when the ambient light is bright enough. Mine come on when I start the truck in my garage, and turn off when I'm out in the daylight.
  • Auto high beams turn the hi beams on or off when another vehicle is approaching, but the lo beam headlights need to be on, either with the switch or thru autolamp.
  • Daytime running lights (DRLs) keep the hi beams on at about half power whenever the truck is in gear but the tail lights are not turned on until the headlight switch is turned on or thru Autolamp.
  • Both DRL and Auto high beam can be set on or off in Settings in the driver information display

Still waiting for my Bestop retractable step. January will be six months (and the last month) from when I ordered it. After the holidays, I'll try to get through to someone that knows something there; their phone people are kept clueless.

Nice! I had been debating the folding up one from Bestop or Amp, but high price is keeping me from pulling the trigger.
This is reasonable!
Just yesterday I could have used it!

Can you post another pic of a rear view with tailgate up?

I like it.

I'm assuming the install is easy, 2 bolts and done?
