I recently fell into the damper cesspool, I thought "I like to lift the handle and walk away" well, my damper is quiet in the cold, no screaming, but damn it's slow, I pop the handle and go make a sandwich, drink a beer, then by the time I'm done the tailgate is just getting to fully open, if it's really cold I can squeeze in trolling here for some new damper post, the only screaming is me going "It should be progressive, fast at first with a slow stop" but I guess I'm asking a lot.
You sure are expecting a lot for $37.00........

Hey, I'm just having damper fun, although it is slow, and it is a genuine Dee Zee, I try not to buy cheap knock offs.

Has anybody changed the oil to some high performance anti foaming, anti squeaking, high speed drop fluid?

Mine drops in 1.5 seconds in the summer, 2 seconds in 30F temps...how many TGD brands are there? I have the original DZ... ?
I laugh when I hear someone say it's slow. Like waiting 1-2 seconds is going to ruin your day. lol I'm sure in really cold weather they'll drop slower but I'd just give it a shot of some Graphene, problem solved. ?

See now that's service! ?

But it's most likely not the damper but the tailgate hinges. If it sounds like a creaky old door or Steve's @Grumpaw back when he stands up, just spray a couple shots of lube in them and it'll go away. With all the dust here mine will do that on occasion especially right after it rains.
And WD-40 :)

If you push down/pull on your tailgate you will build up your muscles so you will be able to easily lift it back up without help.

At work we have 2 brand new Chevy 1500 diesels. The tailgates open automatically with a button press and slowly shush their way down. They have all the extra fluff with the steps etc...so its cool how they open automatically. But fuck me with a gnarly tree stump...you need a hoist to lift it back up to close. Its as heavy as Adam's Aunt Edna after a turkey feast
The visuals!!!?‍♀
