Screaming tailgate damper

That's the cheers from the throngs of single women wanting to know if the owner of that truck is available.

There is a type in "throngs". Just simple observation with my experience while using the damper at the beach.

It seems below 30F my damper screams and is very slow lowering. It’s ok going up but man it sure screams going down.

When it gets very cold, a lot of weird things happen to our trucks. Yesterday, when it was below thirty with light snow in Delaware, the bumper warnings lights and bleepers kept firing off every time that I would slow down. I am assuming that some snow or ice was blocking the scanners, and so just filed this under the category of "it will take care of itself" (when things warm up a bit).

Yes, but I was thinking of one trouble maker, in particular, that was the initial instigator!

Same thing happens to mine. I called DeeZee and they gave me a new one... I think it just needs some lube/oil.

But it's most likely not the damper but the tailgate hinges. If it sounds like a creaky old door or Steve's @Grumpaw back when he stands up, just spray a couple shots of lube in them and it'll go away. With all the dust here mine will do that on occasion especially right after it rains.
