Good question. You would think Ford could answer it.

But since they seem unable, with as many folks here that are experiencing the problem I would think if you all did a comparison of driving habits, trip data over a period of time, etc. you could possibly drill down on what the issue is

Sounds like a plan. I guess I need to stick to the short trips for a bit and see if the level goes up. Maybe that longer trip fixed things. In the same breath, what's the consensus now on catch cans? I really don't like the idea of this crap ending up in the oil to hopefully be burnt off one day (if that is in fact what's happening). I'd gladly at it to the routine to drain the catch can if it means keeping the oil clean.

I noticed that one guy who took his truck in was told "Start using conventional oil instead of Synthetic." Maybe the person who gave him that advice had the same thought about ring seating as I do. I'm also not sure how the TSB that replaced the PCV lines addresses it.

I just checked my oil. I’m 2,000 miles into this oil change With Amsoil and the oil level is between the dots but above the hash marks just a little bit.
What throws me off is how red/purple the oil looks. Almost like I changed it with royal purple?

Does anyone know what the pressure of the fuel pump should be? According to my torque app, mine is varying between 2100 & 3600 psi. I've got less than 400 miles since my last oil change and have been checking the level every day. It has gone from the top of the hash marks to now above the top hole and smells of fuel. I have an appointment this coming Friday with the dealer. I will probably get the mustang out of hibernation since I am afraid of what damage I may be doing to the truck in the meantime.

For those interested, I just turned over 14,000 miles and have been running Mobil 1 since my first oil change at 4,000 miles. Almost all trips with the truck have been at least 25 miles one way and I never use the start/stop feature. Truck is stock and the fuel in oil problem only started within the last month. Drained well over 7.5 qts during the last oil change 2 weeks ago and the level on the dipstick is approaching similar height. Truck drives well and I have had no other issues. I am hoping the dealer doesn't brush me off as others have apparently been.

Here's a suggestion that I don't think that's been mentioned. I don't know much about High pressure fuel pumps, but would the F-150 and the Ranger have the same HPFP? It being they too have this problem (at least the earlier F150's)

Called amsoil and they said it’s the Additive package in the signature series. When the Oxidation inhibitors activate it will turn it red. Doesn’t happen all the time. Only certain conditions can cause it and it’s definitely not a concern.

Yup... Our 2.0L EB Ford Escape has very little gas smell and no variance in oil over an 8k OCI
I have been looking to buy in the next couple months this has me rethinking.. Or may just find a killer deal on a used one and trade up in 22 if there is redesign

I changed my oil 600 miles ago an no more gas smell an no change in the oil level. I wonder if it was do to the over filling in my case.

Just got back from the dealer. They ended up taking a sample of the oil and are sending it out for testing. I have only about 500 miles or so since I changed the oil last, but the level was about an 1/8" above the max "hole" on the dipstick. They did not think that was too excessive, but I reminded them that I just changed the oil 2+ weeks ago and that the level was up further in the "twist" area before that oil change, to which they agreed was not right. I will do another oil change this weekend and wait for what they say after the oil test gets back. 500 miles between oil changes is not something I can live with, On a positive note, they took care of the tail light recall and my truck checked out OK.

It's been a while since I checked in. as I am in the "Underlying Health Condition" group I haven't taken my truck in yet even though I am beyond the 1000 mile mark. I did swing by the dealer Friday and made an appointment for this coming Friday for them to perform their tests. This will be at 1700 miles instead of the original 1000, which I honestly feel would represent a better chance of the issue presenting itself. I will come armed with my Blackstone Labs sample bottle and will update everyone with results from both the dealer visit and the lab results once returned. I love this little truck and truly hope nothing is there.

Hmmm I find this too but haven’t had anything more then 6 quarts come out. I wonder if it’s because I let it idle for 2-5 minutes after a long trip so cool the turbo down.

FWIW.....

I talked to the Service Manager at the dealership where I bought my Ranger. He said they have had no Rangers in for this issue.

He said that they have had other vehicles that had injectors that leaked down. He said if the engine cranks and cranks and then fires... that's a good indication of injector issues.

My Ranger has been running rough at startup, I haven’t checked the oil lately but it’s also been sitting a lot.
