i WAS THINKING OF THE 4" FLIP DROP WITH A 2" SPRING LIFT. BUT NO SPRINGS OUT THERE I GEUSS.
I was thinking the same, then lower the front just a little (if needed) to get the rake just right.

Very true but we all like to modify our trucks no matter the consequences don’t we??

We could take the above list of faults and also apply it to lowering, minus the handling due to higher of center gravity but add the ground clearance issues and lack of suspension travel, depending on the application of course.

Im not knocking either, each his own, I like lowered trucks, the GM and Dodge full sizes look great lowered. The Ranger does too.
Nah…it’s Geometry .. :)

I only know of the 4" flip rear drop...
Actually with stock shackles an axle flip gets you a 6" drop. The 4" drop uses extended shackles to get back to ONLY a 4" drop.

Indeed, that's what I have on my truck. I thought about the 6" drop, but I think that'll be too low in the rear, compared to my 3" drop in the front.

Come on Doc, with what you've had done to yours, you know what the stock rear suspension looks like on our trucks. Neither of those videos applies. To get a 2" drop requires an axle flip and new higher arch springs. Otherwise the shackles would need to be so long the stability of the rear end would be crap.

He's correct. With the Belltech Rear Flip Kit, using the stock rear shackles in conjunction with the axle flip, will net you the 6" rear drop.

If you use the extended shackles that Belltech sends with the kit, you have the option between either a 4" or 5" drop. I'm using the lower hole, which should be the 4" drop, but measuring the gap in between my fender lip and top of the tire, measures 4.125"

well if that is the case, could one not have even longer shackles made to get less drop?

I guess so, but you'd have to get something custom made I would assume...? But, by that time, you might've spent $1000+ on them... If that were the case for me, I'd just get the $2500 rear coilover kit from Control Freaks and adjust it to whatever height I wanted it?

Definitely not advisable. Shackles have their place, and more importantly, their limit. I'd let the engineers do that kind of stuff.

I don't think the rear's that difficult, you just have to weld a few new mounts in.

The front is all bolt in and I thought it was simple.
