Has anyone purchased the 2022 Performance Pack for their Ranger? It was just released within the last 30 days for non California vehicles.

I haven't gotten it yet. Just looking for reviews for the 2022 model year.

Don't think it'll let you install once it sees your vin and your state. Make sense yet?

How does the VIN indicate which state the truck is physically in?
Ford has the latest address you provided to them so they can send you recall information. They could also search state vehicle registries by VIN and find where your truck is registered.

They likely only need to search the CA database to see if it's present in there or not. IF that is the case, some military people with their trucks registered in their home states other than CA may be able to install that tune while stationed in CA. Flip side of that could be that CA residents stationed elsewhere may not be able to install that tune if they are registered in CA still. But checking one state's database is way easier than all states than looking for reported address location in all 50 states' databases.

Or imagine this: They could geo lock it when the VIN is a 22 model. Every truck has a GPS, the tuner could check that location when you attempt to flash it and reject the flash if within a defined area.

That’s how I found Dave when he went missing. ;)

The VIN will indicate if the truck was built to cali emission standard, if it was built to Cali standards and not US standards then the tune won't work.

I thought they were all built to the same emissions standard, which would be whatever is the strictest is in the country. Really doubt Ford has 2 different sets of parts for non-CA and CA Rangers.

They have always added extra emissions equipment to California models. Go look under the hood at the emissions sticker. It will tell you of it's meets federal standards or California standards. As a retired auto tech I've had to check that sticker many times to get the correct parts. So yes Ford does make 2 versions of the same vehicle.
