Eibach or Bilsteins. The former can be had as a coilover for a direct swap, but that will raise the front of the truck (level out some). There are more expensive Bilsteins with spring also, but again more than you might want? Shock Surplus will also install springs and top hats to the Bilstein...
I know what tires I am not going to buy 😞
The OEM Hankooks will turn brown sometimes also, but not as bad. I dislike them for that (among other things, including the OWL that never looks clean).
Maybe you can try some of the arosol tire cleaners (if you haven't already).
That looks like crap, sorry. My OEM Hankooks turn brown sometimes, which I hate, but not nearly as bad as those Continentals. How often do you wash your truck? When you wash, do you use a brush on the tire sidewall?
of the ad, or NZ? The ad is simple, almost too much, IMHO. NZ I like, a lot more than I can write here (I lived there for 3-4 years and my wife grew up there.) I still go back every now and then. It has gotten crowded.
Yeah, or find another Ford person nearby with access to the USB OBD2 adapter. That honk when exiting is super annoying. It is the one thing my mom hated about her Edge until we disabled it.
Use Forscan to disable the honk when you leave with the engine running. I've also changed the key fob panic button to require two pushes to activate, instead of one. That prevents most of the accidental panic presses when the key is in my pocket.
I had the rear Fox 2.0s for about 30k miles before I replaced the OEM fronts with Fox 2.0s also. At that time, I replaced the rears with new rears to have the same rebuild time, and newness all around. I noticed the new Fox 2.0 rears were slightly firmer, less squishy, than the ones I replaced...
The brake signal under the dash is not used for the Ford TBC, but I think that is the only one. IIRC, I had three bare wires and used two of them, but it was a few years ago.
Yes, the under dash wires are used for the Ford accessory TBC. The Ford controller connects just like any TBC with the addition of a second module that interfaces with the center brake light. The center brake light is used for the brake signal on the Ford unit. That signal is PWM and needs the...
This thread may help. It talks about the Ford tuned and standard Fox 2.0 coilovers.
https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/the-facts-ford-performance-fox-2-0-vs-fox-performance-2-0.24643/
It states both are 550 springs. I have the Fox 2.0 (non Ford tuned version) and I think it is a good...
Agree with this thread. I just returned from Discount after getting new Wildpeak A/T Trails installed on the wife's Crosstrek. I will be getting new tires for the Ranger there soon.
I agree. When I test drove Tacomas before buying the Ranger, the boxy hood did not do visibility any help. I like the front end of the 5G. I like almost everything else on the 6G more though :P
We are in agreement for the most part. I am highly leaning towards the Coopers. Your analysis above is spot on. I'll post back when I get the new tires with some pictures also (probably a couple weeks out).
I agree with Grumpaw (he's a very knowledgeable dude, especially when it comes to towing). The only con (and my hesitation on the RAS) is the increase in rear height unloaded, or lightly loaded. IMHO, our trucks are already too high in the rear and I don't want that increased on my truck. If the...
I absolutely will. I am leaning towards the Coopers also. The lower price may help seal the deal. I drive a far amount on the wet side of the Cascades myself too. I'll be installing whatever I chose in the next couple weeks. This week is new tire week for our Crosstrek (Falken A/T Trail).
Shocks. Not only would they help with the side to side, but the overall ride quality 100% of the time will be improved. Any of the name brand options will work.
