Last weekend, I decided to climb into the bed using my usual method of grasping the side rail and stepping up onto the rear tire. After shuffling some stuff around, I decided to exit the bed via the tailgate, which was in the fully-upright and latched position. I reached down and unlatched the tailgate. Not wanting it to slam open on the cables (which probably would have survived the impact) I proceeded to lower it gently into the open position. Everything was going well, until a white-hot lightning bolt of pain hit my surgery-needing arthritic shoulder.

So today, I turned-in my Man Card and installed the damper.

Guys, I was at the Home Depot yesterday and got beat up by another Ranger owner when he saw my tailgate slowly drop to perfection......I've been watching the new series Karate Kid to try and pick up some self defense skills......Wax-on-Wax-off is helping.

I was gonna call the police on the guy but my wife bitch-slapped me and told me to "man-up, take off the crocks and lose the man-bunn"......I need therapy now.

Your wife sounds like a good dude.

If she really loved you, she'd have taken that TGD off when you got home and installed it on your purse for you. ;)

I'm laughing at the comments to the point I might have to - finally - get one of those damn dampers myself. Tired of being an "outsider." Just want to be accepted into the group.
You already were part of the non TGD team. looks like you kinda screwed the pooch on that one now. Over to the other side with all the single ladies...

I really enjoy my TGD now. I can easily open and lower the tailgate with one hand while still enjoying my breastmilk machiato in the other.
Do you have a real man on standby who helps you close it???

God gave us humans to help us figure out how to better deal with life. Good you availed yourself of the angels.

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I clicked that link.... that's fuckin' hilarious. Do these people have a way to track the google car or something, to set this stuff up?
It's possible he knew beforehand. Otherwise he wouldn't have set all that up. Unless he's there to actually help close our tailgates. ?

No No NO a thousand times No. When getting in & out of my bed with the tailgate down I use my bed ladder. With the tailgate up I use the step bumper. :like:

Yeah, my legs do not stretch like they used to, I occasionally use a step ladder like that as well. I really like the tailgates that are available on GM trucks (Full Size), but those are not available on the mid-sized trucks.
