Factory height FX4 with stock sport wheels (17x8.5 +55 offset) just put on some 265/70/R17 BFG KO2s this weekend. No rub at all but it definitely looks like thats the max without leveling or removing the crash bars.
Also, holy vow what a difference (for better) in ride quality versus those trash Dynapros. Major reduction in that 'boat float' feeling with the new much stiffer sidewalls.

I went an inch bigger in diameter 31.5” with 265/65/18 Duratracs
The stock one was 30.5” 265/60/18 Hankook Dynapro
No issues so far at 140 plus miles.
I think the issue would be the width, so I checked this first
https://tiresize.com/comparison/
According to the size calculator, the width is the same with the tires I chose.

I had the Duratracs on my prior truck, Colorado ZR2. Those were the stock tires and first set got me over 80k miles! They are noisy but maybe all the bigger M+S tires are?

I'm interested in knowing how wide people have gone without issue. Has anyone tried to run 285/60R18 without lift or level? (same hight as 265/65 R18)
I fitted this size Yokohama Geolander's with no problems on standard rims.

Couple of years later, how do you like your GY Duratracs? Any issues

How much cutting do I have to do to fit 275/80R17 on +25mm wheels on Tremor’s factory Fox w/ BDS crash bars?

Long-time no post. So here is an update on the Continental TerrainContact A/Ts I had fitted back in November '23. With only a mere 3K miles on the vehicle (it is lightly used for local transfers and weekend work), the Continental's are starting to show a very ugly white/green caulk effect on all 4 sidewalls. One tire looks especially out of the ordinary. The vehicle goes through a local car wash (same as my daily drive, which also has Continental's and does not show the effect..) I'll be contacting my tire installer to discuss with Continental - but I'm curious to hear what the crowd thinks is the cause. ??

That looks like crap, sorry. My OEM Hankooks turn brown sometimes, which I hate, but not nearly as bad as those Continentals. How often do you wash your truck? When you wash, do you use a brush on the tire sidewall?

I wash it 2-3x per month. The truck sits in our paved parking area most of the time. It would seem odd that lack of use would be a cause for whatever compound is leeching from the rubber blend. We have other vehicles that sit for equally long periods of time and those tires look fine.

I know what tires I am not going to buy ?

The OEM Hankooks will turn brown sometimes also, but not as bad. I dislike them for that (among other things, including the OWL that never looks clean).

Maybe you can try some of the arosol tire cleaners (if you haven't already).

Jeff, here’s an important excerpt from the article I linked above…

Tires bloom because antiozonant pushes its way to the outer edge of the rubber casing with time. As the element comes into contact with oxygen, it leaves a brown residue on the surface of the tire. Antiozonant is organic and helps tires last longer as it slows deterioration due to oxidation. This is what makes it possible to manufacture long-lasting high-mileage tires.
I used to have some browning on my General Grabbers. Now, I make sure to scrub the sidewalls every time I wash the truck and I apply tire dressing. It takes a couple of washes and applications to get rid of that build-up but once it’s gone, it’s easy to keep it under control. @Msfitoy told me about a great tire dressing that leaves a matte finish - it’s not shiny - basically, it makes your tires look brand new. If you prefer the shiny look, those dressings work too.

Tire care isn’t that much extra work and it’s a small price to pay for having longer-lasting tires. Besides, your truck will look great after you wash it! Especially if it’s a Shadow Black SuperCab with a fibreglass topper. ?

Thanks, Duke. I spoke with our tire dealer and they are getting the Continental Warranty Dept involved. Will keep this post open to advise on how it gets resolved.
