You would be/will be shocked when you see how quickly that "1500" lbs accumulates.....food, clothes, bedding, cook ware, toiletries, and just "stuff". It all adds up, very fast.
I see it's a Bunkhouse, so kids are with you, right ??? Add in their "stuff", a full fresh water tank, and I'll bet you add at least 1000 lbs !!!
But, even with that, it's still an easy pull for the Ranger.
But, enjoy it, safe travels and many happy memories.....
Yes it is a bunkhouse, we have one 10year old. I think one of the things that helps us weight wise are two things. First I'm never going to be feeling that freshwater tank unless it's at a campground, I'm just too cheap to spend the gas the tow 40 gallons of water lol. We are also kind of looking at this as a tent on wheels, vs a home on wheels, that is more conducive to having two dogs along in foul weather.

So basically all the "stuff", beyond trailer specific needs (hook ups, chalks etc.) is the same light weight and compact stuff we used car camping, in a tent, out of a Subaru Outback station wagon. It might actually be a lighter set up (excepting the trailer specific stuff) tbh because we got rid of heavy 20° sleeping bags and replaced them with light sheets and comforters since we have the furnace.

Regardless, your right, even if I went the full 5400 I think the Ranger would have it fine.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Very similar to my my setup, maybe slightly bigger. Pulled mine across country and works great for the two of us. Having your own bathroom to use works great for those emergency stops in the middle of nowhere, just need a place to pullout. Also great for a quick overnight at a truck stop or a Walmart, if your trying to get from A to B. Small tank kind sucks, but at our age we need to stop at about the same time as a fillup to stretch. So, it all works out.

Yeah we haven't done any long trips yet. Next month we'll be going from Philadelphia to Erie for the eclipse, then Philadelphia to South Williamsport in May, and then Chincoteague in June. Everything else is going to be largely local. Maybe next year we'll go more than two states away. :)

Previous pic is from a stop in WV, but we went to New Brunswick. Camped at Fundy NP and spent our time mostly along the coast.

Here we are at a lunch stop in Saint John

Fundy is one of our favourite spots. About 4 hours from home. Hope you enjoyed it!

how much did that thing cost?
Out the door the coffin on wheels came out to $14k(don’t remember the exact number). I certainly could’ve picked up something bigger with more space inside, but that’s not something I wanted/needed right now. Plus I like to camp in areas where a larger/longer trailer may not be able to make it.

I moved the battery from the tongue box into the storage compartment inside and upgraded it to a 100ah LiTime Lifepo4. Eventually the plan is to mount the rooftop tent on the rack of the trailer.
