Fuel in oil

My 2021 has gained nearly half inch on dipstick since last oil change,2200 miles on oil.
so is this going to be normal for now on?
what about the Toyota tacoma v6 engines,do they have the same problem with fuel in oil?

I was wrong,it was more like a hair over a 1/4 of a inch

The fact some have this horrible problem and others don't makes me think Ford knows it has a bad part (HPFP or Injector(s)?) and doesn't want to fix it. Just claims normal because a little fuel mixed in on a direct injected engine is... maybe?

That or I drive like an arseclown enough I cook all the fuel out of my oil. Mine doesn't move the level over a 5k change cycle - so far. Im on top of another change this weekend.

I would bet a large sum of money some that think they have an issue don't.... and are not following the recommended way to check the oil. Good lord the head must use the same path as the dip stick to drain or something. That or Ford added an oil sprayer for the dipstick itself... if I yank the dipstick too soon it looks horrifically overfilled.

Not saying that is anyone in this thread. I know some 2.3s have the issue for sure. I am equally sure everyone reads the manual. I have, three times, and once backwards.

Is your driving mostly short in-town trips? If so take it on a nice 50-100 mile highway trip once in awhile, get it up to temp. These engines (turbo, direct injection) will accumulate gas and some condensation in the oil, if they aren't taken out and run hard once in awhile to vaporize to gas and water off. A quarter inch is nothing work about, and will go back down after a good run.

Haven't heard of anyone losing an engine yet to gas in oil.

Other option: Stop checking your oil so often. Change it every 5K. And, for God's sake, don't smell it!

What IS the good way to check it? The oil is incredibly tricky to check on this vehicle -- every other vehicle i've checked oil on, has been simple. There seems to be a large margin of error on the 5g ranger, given how poor the checking can be (despite best efforts).

Agreed - 100% so;

Dead cold on this one. Reads the same as waiting 30+ minutes when hot. I tend to swap back and forth when I check to make sure I am not gaining fluid in the crankcase or dropping.

Book says to wait 15min but I've had mixed results with that. Checking at the gas station is just laughable at the mess on the stick.. but i also tend to fill up at half a tank.

Wow. That is extra special for an already special engine when it comes to this issue.

I really wonder what the cause is.. ?? I've heard some gen of the 350z had that issue because of the head dumping oil down the same passage the dip stick uses to the crankcase. Not 100% on how true that is etc.

I have had two trucks a 19 and now a 22 with the issue. I think the theory that I heard that I lean to believe is that the ring have a light compression on the cylinder wall to get the gas mileage numbers they needed sounds about right. It give it an extended break in period that lets gas leak by the pistons into the crank case. Had a bad issue with my 19 and it magically stopped doing it at around 20000 miles when I traded for a 22 Tremor. Now the 22 did it, but has already started settling down at 10000 miles. But that’s just a theory someone had. But taking my experience I had with both trucks it seemed the most logical.

We had some crazy high heat too in Western Maine, think it got to 85 F the other day ??

Jeeze, it's been 90-91 every morning at 5:00am here. If/when it gets to 85 in the mornings I'm going to need a parka! ?

Wow, I haven't visited this thread in a long while. I don't think I have seen anyone who has this issue worse than my truck, double digit fuel contamination after only 500 miles. It is still running at 54,000 miles or so. Ford gave up throwing parts at it, so after 17 trips to the dealer, they just said it wasn't hurting anything and they weren't going to do anything more, but did extend my Powertrain warranty to 100,000 miles. I now, never check the oil at all, put 6 qts in every 7500 miles, and get 8.2 qts back. Interestingly. that seems to be the limit as I get 8.2 qts back if I change it at 3000 miles. I sure hope this engine lets loose before 100k or I am going to have to trade it in.

Check when cold and on a flat surface. Pull the dip stick, wipe it clean, re-insert and pull again to check the level. Pull slowly and with purpose. I never check the oil if the truck has been running within the last couple of hours. I always check in the morning, usually every week or so.

After 5k miles. Same spot I left it on the last change.

So got lucky with that issue I guess.

Also a check at dead cold this morning. Yanked the stick, cleaned it, and got a good reading. Sucks for those that can't even check it cold.

Warm just after shut down..... it would somehow be up my arm for no logical reason.
