Just wanted to throw up an appreciation post. I always read negative things; transmission this, fuel economy that, weird issue there, blah blah.
Anyways. Ive used my Ranger as my "work" vehicle for the last few years. I fall trees for Wildfire during the summer up here in BC, Canada. My Ranger...
Go to a junk yard and get a bottle jack out of a 1/2 or 1 ton. Or get a cheap one for your local auto store. Absolutely zero need for an entire rolling floor jack in the back of your truck. Hell, even the little widow maker jack is plenty for changing a flat.
No big brake kit on my truck, but have done many on cars. One thing I do usually before upgrading the entire caliper/rotor is just install some better pads, stainless lines and upgrade the fluid. Usually makes quite a noticeable improvement for half the cost.
My 2019 with ~50k miles hasn't had any issues. It sees some pretty harsh service in the summer months as my work truck. Routine maintenance and I try and head off any potential issues before they arise.
People come here to complain.
I have a 2019 with ~80k KM, no issues. It sees some pretty severe service in the summer as my work truck as well. No trans issues, no heater issues, I've done no "repairs" outside of regular maintenance (YET, knock-on-wood). Watch now something get F'd up now that I've said this LOL.
Honestly...
The old adage of "if you want something done right, do it yourself" rings true here! I've always changed my oil in every vehicle I've owned and after a few years of doing it in the Ranger, it takes like 20 minutes and I have peace of mind that its been done right and everything is where it...
Man this is so sick. I stumbled upon your build through another thread and I had to come and check things out.
I started in VWs in my early driving years, big turbo swapped my GTI. My Subaru, big turbo and all the fixings. We recently installed a pro-charger on my C5 Z06. I love this so much. I...
Ah mate, Id be hard pressed to assume this is any sort of transmission issue! As others have stated, plugs and coil packs. And the DPFE Sensor failure has been a huge thing and symptoms are almost as you describe! Good luck!

Really nice looking trucks, honestly. They look as off-road capable as any other. Between these and the new Colorado ZR2, some pretty legit mid-sized trucks on the market right now.
I have a '19 with just over 70,000km and I haven't had any transmission issues. I do plan on getting the fluid and filter changed soon as it does see severe service use.
Even after reading all the stories on the forum about the transmissions, I am not really concerned about it. Like people have...
Unhook your battery and let the computer reset itself. Then take it for a drive.
4x4 is only activated with the selector knob, therefore 2 wheel drive is always the default.
Definitely brush up on the warranty info.
