I went on vacation for a week, came back to see a little puddle under my Ranger. At least it's not motor oil, transmission fluid, or the diff I guess. Truck is still under warranty but not sure I even want to waste time replacing the FX4 shocks with new FX4 shocks, they've been pretty bouncy since the day I bought the truck.

FWIW bought the truck with 14k miles on it, has 19k miles on it now. Mostly driven the thing empty, just moved my boat a few hundred miles. Tongue weight was ~500 pounds, plus ~200 pounds of extra cargo in the bed (jack, jackstands, tools), so definitely not taxing the truck payload. Ohwell.

I installed a rear set on my 23 Lariat FX4 at ~1,000 miles. I debated, but bit the bullet. The rear of the truck now feels like it “should”. Not stiff, but it’s no longer bobbing up and down in the rear after dips and bumps. Handling has improved and my fiancé who knows nothing about vehicles could tell a definite improvement! Small bumps are more evident, but not enough to be uncomfortable. I have a set for the front, but haven’t installed them yet. I plan on staying at the stock height, so I just did the 4600s.

Yeah not sure I want to dig into the front just yet, so rears only at this point. At least install of the rears seems so simple that my dumb self can do it.

I wonder what the odds are that the fronts will spring a leak too, though ;-).

I’m tempted on the Tom Woods driveshaft. I’ve felt the vibration on takeoff since new, none at any speeds other than 5-15 mph.

Bilstein 4600's are a nice choice. I had a set from the factory on my 2016 Frontier. Others here that have had them on their Ranger are happy as well. Also when it comes to tires when the time gets there you can go to a 32 on the Factory Wheels and no modifications. It can help a bit with the ride as well.

I put the Eibach Pro Truck Reservoir rears on my Ranger. Those, plus the Icon rear springs definitely improved the ride. Only have a few hundred miles on mine though.

You can't go wrong with Fox, Bilstein or Eibach. I went with 5100's all around

Too bad you can't get the dealer to pony up the value of the FX4 shock.

If the front was leaking you could probably get an expensive install done for free under warranty....

Good luck with getting them to pony up on anything. My passenger seat had a defect in the fabric from the factory and later on the fabric a few inches away ripped for no reason. The dealership had to get a corporate blessing to replace the seat cover under warranty. Hold it till the eagle screams seems to be Job One these days.

The Ukraine-colored shocks look cool though.

Same day I bought the truck I put 4600’s on the rear and blue Sumo’s. No regrets. I really hated the way it rode and ordered the parts after a test drive.

whatever you buy do the install yourself. Rears are super simple. If you have access to a jack it will make things super easy compressing the stock into place.
