In my mind, Ford had 3 must does for 6G.
1- bigger gas tank
2- Make the Bronco's manual trans available
3- Improve fuel economy with a hybrid option

All fails. I think Ranger market share will fall with the 6G rather than go up.
I feel the same. Glad I have my 5g, if I was forced to buy something else currently it'd be New Tacoma > New GM Twins >>> Ranger 6g.

As great as the 5g is (other than the stupid gas tank), the 6g is a bit of a miss for me.

Plan on keeping my 5g until it dies at this point, the only worry I have is the lack of continuing aftermarket support (see limited selection of sliders/etc).

I think if you are seeing a limited support for the 5G Ranger you are failing to looks at options outside the US. While not everything from the ROW Ranger will work on ours, there is a lot. And with the much longer production cycle of the ROW Ranger there should be plenty of aftermarket for most things for a while.

Might of been triplets.lol So far I think the ZR2/AT4X are the nicest ones out there now besides the Ranger Raptor. GM nailed it with the interior and exterior looks and so far all the videos (I've seen) on them have been very positive. Of course we'll know nothing about long term quality for several more years. Ford should've had the Tremor to compete with the ZR2/AT4X now because the Raptor will be just about impossible for many to get. So far if I was looking right now I'd have to say the Twins nailed it.
Agreed. I hate to say it but I may have already taken a test ride ;)

If it weren't for stock being low...................

it looks nice but my comic thought on toyotas: (get ready for some real stupidity here) i have never, since i was very small, been able to stand the name. It says "toy" in it... i know they are good vehicles and last a really long time, my mom is on her third toyota vehicle and she has gotten incredible mileage out of the first two BUT/ i just won't ride in a "toy" ... i looked at gmc nissan and chevy (more or less knowing i preferred the Ranger) but never even looked at the toyota. No solid logic to it but i am way happier in a Ford. Also comedy: the Ranger name works everywhere/ i live in CA not "colorado" and Tacoma? that is in Washington.. also it is a food im not driving a taco here... hahaha/// "canyon" almost would work but Ranger is way better... yeah i'm an idiot but that was part of the process for me hahaha feel free to poke fun at my logic but i feel a lot better pulling up to the desert in a Ranger

I think they made some nice changes, especially the drivetrain. Can't say I like the new interior styling, but then again I didn't care for the old ones either. The worst part tho...I think they really dropped the ball on the exterior styling. Looks like someone was trying to resize a picture of a tundra in word, and it got all squished... Also that chin spoiler very much looks like an afterthought to try and squeeze out some mpg's when they realized that they didn't have a hope in hell of hitting their efficiency targets without it.

Looks too angular to me. Part of the reason I like the Ranger is it reminds me of an old school truck. Nothing fancy, just gets on with the job.

Besides, I’ve never owned a Japanese vehicle. Nothing against them, just prefer to buy my vehicles from an American company.

I was impressed with the features and configurations that Toyota is offering. Its like they have been reading the ranger and colorado forum posts for what midsize truck owners want and actually taking notes. It looks a lot like the new colorado in ways to me. It has a coil spring rear suspension similar to the ford ranger raptor. There is the hybrid option I've seen a lot of desire for lately. Lastly it has a manual transmission option and that gives me two options for my next truck, three if I count a bronco. Function over form could be the name of the game for some.

function over form is how I ended up in a ranger . . . payload, towing and a few other tick boxes.

I really wanted one of the GM twins, but the ranger ticked more boxes...

Toyota put a lot of effort into this to remain #1 in midsized trucks and conquest new buyers. Ford offers an updated midsized truck for Ford guys with blue blood. They look at this market differently because it's a big deal for Toyota and for Ford it's just to use up excess manufacturing space at the Bronco plant.

I only drive Ford, but if you are open to different brands this is definitely worth a look. Other then the Raptor, the 2024 Ranger is much more limited in models then the 5G. This is a bread and butter truck for Toyota so it's not surprising they put about 10x the effort into it versus Ford with the Ranger
We can also see ford cares about its full size trucks more than the mid size. For Toyota this is the bread butter sales. And they will make bank but how much more for all of this new tech will it make the new trim vs previous gen?

The top trim levels of this truck will be competitive with the Raptor pricing, I'm sure. 2023 TRD pro trucks with automatics are already $50k MSRP trucks..

manual to auto is only ~3k different . . .

another random thought - I would hope that the new tacoma has an option for nice seats that aren't leather . . .

Yeah...... Dont like it...... Besides the fact it is a Toyota it basically tried to copy Chevrolet with the headlight and grille setup......

Congratulations, Toyota! You just invented the... (checks notes)... 2002 Chevy Avalanche!

Actually, that is an insult to the Avalanche. The new Tacoma is MUCH uglier.
