can you please confirm which bed you have? I have the short bed 5'. The reason I ask is because the instructions for the cover I'm returning to the dealer say that if you have the 6' bed, you need to cut the notches as you described. However with 5' bed, no cutting required.

I'm also taking a close look at the UnderCover Elite LX Tonneau cover. The bad news is that it cost $1500, and I haven't found any sales or deals to bring down the price. I really like the look and it has a much better seal for water protection..

The one question I have is, can the tailgate open and close without having to open the cover?

Here is a pic of it, but I would like to see a pic of this installed on a 2019 Ranger, and get feedback from anyone who has this cover.

The instructions that came with my Undercover Flex for the 5' bed said you had to cut notches in the drop in bed liner. The bakflip and Undercover are both made by Truck Hero and use the same mounting system so I'm sure they would both require the cutting.

I had the Undercover Elite LX on my 17 Silverado. It overlaps the bed rails and tailgate so you do have to open it to open the tailgate. But the advantage to it overlapping the rails and tailgate is it doesn't leak at all. Not even going thru high pressure car washes. It's mounting rails are less than 2' long and dont extend to the end of the bed so no cutting of the drop in bedliner is required. The main drawback to that type of cover is you have to remove it to haul anything taller than the sides of the bed. Removal is pretty easy. But you need at least two people and a place to store it. That's why I decided to go with a tri fold on the Ranger.

thank you - very helpful. I don't like having to open the cover just to open the tailgate. I would prefer to have a cover that you can open the tailgate or top cover without having to open the other. You also raise good points about the easy of hauling items taller than the bed walls....hum..might need to reconsider the options again.

For the folding kind, I really like the new UnderCover Armor Flex, but not if I have to cut the top of my drop in bed liner all the way around it. Cutting notches for the brackets is fine, but not cutting all the way around. I am hoping the sales guy at autoanything is just wrong about having to cut the drop in all the way around to install it.

The only way to know for sure is if anyone on this forum has the 5' bed and drop in bed liner, and they have installed the Armor Flex. The instructions do not say anything about a drop in liner or about the need to cut anything.

Anyone have the Ford Tonneau cover installed by their dealer. Mine leaks mainly at the back so I am wondering if this is normal for folding hard covers or an installation problem. The rubber side seal where it meets the rear gate seal are not glued to each other very well. Looks like a lame adhesive strip that is supposed to glue them together. This seems like a poor design.

I suggest you contact Undercover and ask them since it's there cover. The ArmorFlex is the same as the updated Flex except it has the LineX coating sprayed on the top to resist dents. So the installation would be the same.

Scott, how many holes did you need to drill to install the swing case ?
No holes to drill , it comes with three bolts that go in the holes that are already there in picture and you use the two back tie down bolts ( 4 ) to hold the bracket. You install the tie down brackets over the main bracket for swing case( you can lift swing case off bracket if you need to use tie down)

If you ever lift the swing case out please post a picture... I have a spray in bed liner and the tie downs were sprayed in place. I want a better look before I commit.

Yup, you were correct. All of the Flex covers install the same and he said in "some" cases for drop in bed liners you have to notch it out around the front brackets. He said unless your drop in overlays the top of the bed walls and taligate, no additional cutting is required. The ford drop in does not do this so I'm very close to pulling the trigger on the ArmorFlex cover.

I was hoping to hear back from F399 about Top Flip, but I need to know how much and if they even sell that in the US.

Do you have a link? Is this available now in the US? How much?
Sorry for the late response.

I honestly dont know, it maybe an asian company that made it. I am not sure if they have a patent on it but it seems like a simple setup.

It took me awhile to decide on a cover because unlike in the states, there are SO MANY options here in the philippines so I had to choose the one that fit my needs.

This cover seemed to be the most versatile.
1. You can drive with it propped up so it acts like a semi hard top canopy
2. it can be sealed close so it acts like a hard cover that's water proof
3. It can fold so you can still use the bed like there is no cover for tall loads

There is even one company that has this automated motors that can be used with a remote.
