I have a 4x2 lariat on order - carbonized gray, 501A, black appearance, tech package, tow package for about $41k - keeps getting pushed back and now says delivery “estimated” for almost December.

there’s a dealer in my area selling a black Tremor with 501A, tow and tech for about $45k

is it worth getting the tremor? I live in Florida, don’t do much off off roading at all (yet I guess… never owned a 4x4). Drive about 25ish miles to work, mixed city and Highway.
How’s mpg between the two? Also I was planning on throwing on bigger tires and vinyl wrapping the bumper and fender flares black in the future but wouldn’t need to with the tremor I suppose

worth the extra 4k? Also note $41 was getting pretty close to what I wanted to spend max on a truck so..

Resale on a 4X4 is better than a 4X2 for starters. The mileage is slightly better with the 2 wheel drive though.

Ford has built half as many vehicles as were projected because of shortages. I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

If one is available jump on it because by tomorrow it will be gone!

Assuming you're staying in Fla and don't do much if any off roading, then why get a 4x4? It's just adding more stuff to wear out and lower gas mileage, for what?

ADDED: But, what Trig said is also true, resale may be worth considering if you won't keep the truck for years.

It's really a matter of if you feel the additional money for a truck equipped with features you may never use is worth it. If you're tired of waiting for your truck to be built and you're okay with the increased price then go for it. You may even get the dealer to come down on the price a bit as well if they're willing to haggle.

Given the situation you described, and I assume you don't need a vehicle right away, I would wait for the 4x2 you have on order. The Tremor package really fit the bill for me, but I am off-road frequently and we still get some snow here in the Rocky Mountains. The rated MPG drop from 22 to 19 on the Tremor, but the numbers are a little odd. Fuelly is showing me at 21.6 with some towing and mountain driving mixed in over the 6 weeks of ownership.

You're close to maxing out on what you want to spend, seems like the Tremor provides some more stuff to go wrong and all that stuff is more expensive. If I lived in Florida I would save the $4k, that's more than a years worth of payments!

Your dilemma is clear. Your answer, not so much. Maybe....
1. If 4k is too much for your budget then stop right there.
2. I have a 2 wheel drive and also live in Florida. Not an issue with me. From tons of threads here I conclude mileage difference is completely negligible. None, nada.....
3. Days are long waiting on a delivery for sure. What your tolerance is, only you know.
4. Don't worry, be happy ?.

Advice given. Let us know what you decide and I for one will agree with your decision ?.

For only 4K difference, Tremor all day.

Only you can say if the $4k difference is worth it to you and your pocketbook. If you were already at the top of your budget then stretching $4k doesn't necessarily make financial sense.

I'd get the Tremor. After you put money into modifying the looks of the 4x2, you'll still have a 4x2. But the Tremor has a nice look to it already that sounds like what you're aiming for, and the capability to go behind it. And it comes with the Fox 2.0 suspension and nice wheels!
