Went for a bike ride for the first time in six months. 18 miles + 90* heat = I felt like 15lbs of shit in a 5lbs bag. Ranger got me there and home.

People think the side mirrors fold back for parking in space but I figured out the secret. The bird smashed into the mirror nothing more than a quick white blur out the corner of my eye and my mirror instantly folded.
Yep, it's actually a design requirement. We test with a 6" (i think?) weighted ball on a pendulum striking the front and rear of the mirror. Mirror must fold and take little-to-no damage. IIRC its intended for reducing injury to pedestrians.

Had to drive from Bakersfield to Ventura, so I took the back way. Route 33 through Los Padres National Forest. Nice area. Wish I had more time to explore all the off shoots along the way. Looking forward to a suspension upgrade as the truck is quite sloppy on all the twisties.

Got back today from a family reunion in Flagstaff, AZ. Yesterday did several trails on Little America's 500 acre forest in Flagstaff. Not with the Ranger but on foot...vehicles not allowed.

Nothing great or sexy, but ran on back roads to a friend’s house, some much narrower than the one in the picture. I picked up a 40”x 60” piece of steel.

What is kind of neat is it will be part of a maple syrup evaporator that I will be building. For the first time ever this coming spring, I will tap 16 maple trees on my property and try and make some decent maple syrup from it. It is far less expensive and easier to buy it from a store’s shelf or farmer’s market, but it is the experience of doing it, that is invaluable.

I like the idea of Gary’s Cabane à Sucre.

Maple Syrup is a great tasting plant-based natural sweetener with nutritional benefits when eaten in moderation! I use it occasionally as a supplement to the Mediterranean diet. Nothing like it on whole grain pancakes. I can imagine that the fresh stuff like you guys obtain is the best it gets :D

We vacationed in Sedona a few years ago. Traveled to The Grand Canyon from there and went through Flagstaff and out to Williams. What a beautiful state! For an Easterner like me the climate and scenery out there are simply amazing! It was nothing like my normal habitat. We all loved it and had a wonderful time. You are lucky to live there!
