That render shows the Ranger as a cross between the current Ranger and a Maverick. My "source" says the actual Ranger look is more like a cross between a Bronco and a Rivian truck.
Think this, but less boxy, headlights from what you see in the video, front end more like a bronco. Also warthog...
There is no easy way to get the mirror housing open. The mirror's adjustment torque depends on the tension on a wrap spring that grabs onto the ball. One trick you can use instead is to adjust the mirror to the extremes and put a little nail polish on the ball. If you're brave you can adjust the...
Use a spudger instead of a screw driver and you shouldnt damage the skullcap. The second time i break out the screw driver in the video it was not needed (I thought the bottom clips might have been engaged still), you just have to pull at the correct angle, gently wiggle it a bit.
Is it one mirror or both mirrors? Failing in standard temperatures/conditions? Do they just not fold in/out at all when the button is pressed, or are they moving partially?
There are few industries which can take something as complicated as an automobile and then churn them out in the millions.
Occasionally an OEM will send us the CAD file for an entire vehicle and i'll make the mistake of trying to open it...
I suspect the difference may be due to the front transmission vent hose placement or the transfer case vent hose placement. I've tried to find the transfer case one multiple times (supposed to be visible in the engine bay) but couldnt track it down.
Otherwise, it's probably an oversight. Ford...
Moving the folding motors into non-folding mirrors would be a major undertaking. The PF mirrors for the ranger have a pivot tube riveted in place so you would have to drill that off to get the old power-folds free. For moving the BLIS glass over, it really depends on what actuator Brock is using...
Yep, it's actually a design requirement. We test with a 6" (i think?) weighted ball on a pendulum striking the front and rear of the mirror. Mirror must fold and take little-to-no damage. IIRC its intended for reducing injury to pedestrians.
Bit late for the info on cap removal, but here you go:
I'd suggest using a plastic or wood spudger instead of the metal screwdriver i used, but i dont care about cosmetically damaging the mirrors in my case. The second time i break out the screw driver in the video it was not needed (I...
Luckily i've taken apart dozens of these mirrors:

Well, that's two issues with those trapdoors. Honestly don't blame anyone for fixing such a simple thing themselves, but if anyone has the problem in the future please post a pic of the part in the mirror and describe the issue. I'll see if I can compile the issues and forward them to the guys...
Boy i missed a good thread to chime in on. Dont want to bump a thread that old, so instead i'll mention some further info here. That plastic insert the previous OP found was the issue is an assembly aid for routing the wires. At the mirror assembly plants the operators take a wire harness and...
Seat memory AFAIK is similar in issue to outside-mirror memory. Most systems on US vehicles use a door module (AKA a computer in the door) to control those functions, as well as typically being relied on to manage auto-fold (i'm not sure how the architecture of this all works, that's for the EEs...
I've found with the ranger you can adjust the mirrors to eliminate any blindspot that your typical car can fit in. As a vehicle approaches i can see a portion of it in both the rear-view mirror and side mirror, then later i'll be able to simultaneously see it in the side-mirror and out my...
Makes sense, they'll switch the frame to fully-boxed, but wont update any of the "must-have" amenities.
I dont know how much space/how easy it would be to fit the motors under the ranger's seat since i have no desire to take mine apart, but as is pointed out above, the seat was likely carried...
I spoke with some guys from the seating division of my sub-group, and they spoke how one of the biggest challenges they encounter is fitting the huge motors required under the seat for 3-axis power adjustments.
I wonder if the AUS/EU vehicles had fully-powered seats, and if so, wonder if US...
EU/AUS and NA ranger skullcaps have different attachments. On the NA ones they're pretty easy to remove without breaking clips off. Video below is an example.

it's come up over and over again about how the side mirrors on the ranger are not great for towing. I would think that if Ford had tried to they could have really sold the ranger as a good towing truck by also offering trailer-tow mirrors from the factory.
I'm starting to think i should...
In my opinion, heated mirrors should be standard. The manual tells you that you should not scrape the glass, so then if it's iced up how am i supposed to clear my mirrors? Similarly, while i can usually see the BLIS light through ice, if the BLIS system has warnings in the manual telling me to...
