Definitely get the nose of the trailer DOWN....that's causing most of the sway problems. Right now, the way it's set up...in a panic stop your looking at a jackknife occurring. Stopping on a wet road....all bets are off !!!!!
Yeah, it's a bit oversize for the Ranger but I've towed almost as big, and heavier. But as I emphasized, get the nose down.....for safety's sake do not tow for any distance till you take care of it.
Absolutely, and move some the weight to the nose if you can Caravans almost always tow better with a bit of a weight bias to the front. 8-10% of the trailer mass is good.

Actually got it in July. For some reason the picture wouldn't upload before.

My retirement present to myself (GD AIM 16ML). Want to do few upgrades, so I got it early. Got another year to go. 😃

Plan on throwing the low-riders in the back seat once it starts to warm up and heading ??? sometime in the spring of 2027.

Finally get to put a few miles on the Ranger. Just went over 5 years with it and don't even have 23K on it yet.

The fellow I bought my GN trailer from said load the trailer, not the truck,

Just upgraded myself to one of these, one of the local dealers was closing down and unloading excess old stock at a significant discount. Like many caravan dealers over here, supply ran short over Covid when you couldn't travel overseas, so they ordered up big, then Covid ended, factories caught up with back orders, and all of a sudden they had excess stock sitting they couldn't sell.
I bought a 2023 model like this one, new old stock for way less than this one is advertised for. Mine also had some extras as it had the optional tunnel boot access door on both sides, and they included two full gas bottles and a ceramic coat thrown in.
Will sell our semi of road Jayco poptop as most of our camp spots these days are easily accessible, and many outback places that required a 4x4, good weather, and a sense of adventure to access when I was younger, have now had tar or at least good quality gravel road access, so I'll happily accept 500Kg less weight to tow from a Euro built van with an easy and quick setup.

Thank you. Yes have to readjust with the nose down. Weight on the hitch was still not 10-15 percent of the trailer gross weight, as it was unladen. But still much better towing than before. The hitch receiver for the truck is very high so had to buy a new extended length hitch.

The sway was largely gone but bumps in the road cause the truck to rock. I am planning to get E rated tires and looking at the bumpstop by Timbren for making rear suspension more stable.

The blue Sumosprings will likely work a little better. They are a tiny bit softer and more progressive than the Timbrens.

The Ranger suspension is designed to work with a progressive bumpstop, replacing it with something stiffer can result in a choppy ride. The Sumos are longer, and contact the axle earlier, which lets them be slightly softer.

Toyota guys like the Timbrens because they are softer than their OEM bumpstops, which are harder rubber, so they are going from harder to softer, whereas the Ranger you'd be going from softer to harder, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

Glad to hear it, interesting, possibly due to our crappy roads and the preponderance of dirt and tracks once you venture out of the cities and major towns our caravans ride much higher than yours. My standard hitch on the Ranger is just the right height, I even flipped it to run a little bit higher for my Jayco semi off road. Even my new Euro van (which is the special Aus build version but still low by local standards) likes it this way.

The E rated tires Will Mae a large difference.

Your trailer manufacturer or the trailer manual will specify "loaded height of hitch ball" and "recommended tongue weight" General rule is "flat-ish" erroring slightly low, and 10-15% of total trailer weight on the tongue.
