Is it possible to install Nitto grapplers 285/70r17 on stock wheels and 2.5 level kit, without removing the crash bars?

Well, a local tire shop has a pretty good deal on the Cooper AT3 XLT's.

I was looking at 4S's, and at Wildpeak AT3's, but the XLT's are the same price as 4S, and cheaper than the Falkens, at this place. I thought it was a mistake when they told me the installed price.

I have a 1500 mile work trip to do next week, so I might as well do that one on the Hankooks. Think I'm going to pull the trigger on the Coopers before they change their minds.

I am 95% sure I'm going 265/70/18. same width, but 2 inches taller than stock.

I don't likely really need LT's. I know they'll be heavier, but so be it. The wife wants a slide-in camper for the truck. I really do not want that, instead favoring a towable. Either way, LT's would help. If we can't agree and therefore get nothing, which is very likely, maybe they'll last longer.

Most likely, but you would want to test fit the clearance on the knuckle.

Probably not. You will most likely rub on the crash bars.


I fit 285/70r17 BFG KO2s on OE wheels and barely rubbed the crash bars. But each manufacturer is different, within the same size. The only way to know for sure is to have them fit to your truck and see if they work. I would bet you could do it, but you would probably rub.

Thanks, yes I do. That's actually where I usually buy tires, and have for a long time.

Funny enough, years ago I got one of their store credit cards, but haven't used it in forever, like 5 years probably. When I got it before, it enabled something like 6 months interest free financing.

So, just now, I got some interest free finance offers in my email. We'll see what they come up with.

I actually had a Jeep last. I spent the 1st 3 or 4 years debating with myself about things like lifts, better tires/wheels, winches, on and on.

I've had this truck for about a month now, and just decided I'm setting it up like I want it right up front. I am buying a very good extended warranty from my local credit union, so I expect to have it awhile.

Just FYI - from the world of electronic spying: I opened the Amazon app to check the status of a few ranger things I ordered, and the big headline was - Recommended for you: Dee Zee tailgate damper.

It's inescapable.

Yes we have a great bunch here and most everyone's very helpful if/when you have either a problem or just trying to get the right mod for your truck. Might as well set it up right and enjoy it now rather than later.

As far as warranties go just make sure it's a genuine Ford one. There are several dealers who sell the at $50 over their cost. I bought mine here.

There is an LT and an XLT version of the AT3, in addition to the 4S. The XLT is the heaviest and overkill if you’re not off-roading. The LT would be fine for towing and a better compromise on weight.

I put Wild Peak AT/3W's, 275 70R17, on Icon Rebound rims, 17x8.5 +25mm, and mounted them only with high clearance crash bars, no rubbing street driving. Will not go off-road until I get my Fox 2.0 coil overs on Monday.

Didn't go as daring as others, but haven't seen anyone else with this size so thought I'd throw in for reference.

Old tires: Stock 255/70/R16 Bridgestone Duelers
New tires: 265/70/R16 Falken Wildpeaks (+0.5" same size as stock 17")

I dig the look more than I would have thought. Might not even upgrade to a 17" wheel, currently running the base level steel wheels rattlecanned matte black w/matte clearcoat.

I would have never considered this look an option having not seen it... the black paint ups the wow factor 100%... I'll be following in your foot steps with that same setup... A+
