For those who updated to 3.4.22200, is it worth updating to the latest sync? I'm still on early 2021, with no sync problems, so not sure what i'd gain by updating (given the issues ppl were seeing when updating...so i held off).
Usually product updates = more intrusion/less privacy (vs new features)
Not sure, I just updated mine today, I do wish you could find release notes to see what is actually getting updated and reasons for it bugs, enhancements etc.

FYI: Just finished the 3.4.22200 update after reading this thread... via USB. No fuss, no muss, 30 to 40 minutes total time while driving around (had not run in almost 2 weeks so gave it a little exercise).

USB is the only, IMO, practical way to go. Have tried via my home WiFi, way slower.

With the USB method it saves a file back to the stick that gets sent to Ford. Otherwise it still thinks you need the update and will try eventually OTA. Don’t ask me how I know ?

OK... yes, I see that: Sync_VY9K0F99_(VIN number).xml
Question: When and how it gets sent back?? Via the Ranger hotspot?? (would seem the most likely).

Next question: After the update, I checked to see if there were any map updates on https://www.ford.com/support/ I logged into my account, entered the VIN and searched.

It never says, yes, version xx.xx.xxx is available for yoru vehicle. It says look at the version number in Sync on the vehicle but does not give one to see if it is new/different or same.
Also it says you only get one update per year... OK, fine... When?? what month of each year?? In the month when you got the subscription?? (would seem logical) Or every January??

Very frustrating.

Final frustration: Ford Pass does not show any of the Sync info... version of Sync nor map versions. That app, other than Remote Start, is near useless.

I think the time difference to update, depends on whether you are driving around and what vs it was at prior to updating as mine took 10 min parked in garage via USB and had vs 21194 prior to update to 22200. Version 21194 was released in Sept, and I updated to that just after taking delivery of truck in September, so it came from factory out of current version but updated was released after build, I guess.

To clarify this, MAP update is separate from the Sync update, this is the one time a year update.
Current Map Vs NA2.21, and that has to be downloaded and installed via USB, no wi-fi install available. It took some time after release for mine to actually show it was available on the website. (Map Update) mine was only at Vs NA2.20 prior to updating it
So the current versions are:

Sync: 3.4.22200
Map: NA2.21

You can see the current versions on the sync display (Settings - Automatic Update-Current Syn Versions) Scroll down and you will see Map Version

RE: Mapp update release month, most platforms release update yearly - In November
Some Quarterly - Garmin
Plus, the Map is not actually current, Ex: Vs NA2.21 is from a database created in Feb 21 and released November 22. I read something about it awhile back. If I am recalling the write-up correctly
This is why if you have a road change or new road in your area and notice the GPS is using old info, it takes a year or so for it to be built into the Map databases
Just a FYI

Yep, I was on 21194 as well... I just downloaded the files today.. they looked like MAYBE a couple of maps might have been included (after second look, probably not). Who knows what variables influence update times on a give vehicle... just happy there were no glitches.

Yep, but they don't show that "NA2.22" is available or no, your on the current versions.

Go here and enter your VIN to see if NA 2 21 is available for you. Then compare to what Sync says you have.

https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home
I did that to start with and that's where I'm NOT seeing where it says NA 2 21 (or any other version). I am on NA 2 21 so it seems I am current, but figured by now, NA 2 22 would be out... (is the 2 222 for Feb 2022??) If I understand, your saying NA 2 22 will not be out till Feb 2023... Yes??

Here’s the text from the Nav page where you enter your VIN:
“*Data points above represent the changes in the HERE Map Database from Q1 21. Exact data may vary by product. The current Map version is NA 2 21.”

If Ford stays true to the schedule of the last few years, then I would expect the next update in the fall of 2023. And that would probably be NA 2 22.

It is what it is…..
