Eventually we’ll find an aftermarket paddle shift steering wheel that won’t break the bank. Then let the real good times begin!
I’ve had two cars with paddle shifters, including my current Passat (I’m pretty sure Passat is German for Camry ?) - paddle shifting is definitely a lot of fun - both were triptronic transmissions which prevent downshifting to gears that would “throw a rod” and zeroed out when you came to a full stop but you have to be on top of it when upshifting - no forgiveness.

It would be a blast to have this on my XLT.

We traded in the wife's 2010 GTI on our Ranger. I Love the truck, but I do miss the steering wheel paddles and exhaust farts of the GTI. I *could* find a paddle steering wheel for my TDI wagon, I suppose...

No you can shift it from drive to sport on the fly and vice versa.
Regards
Thank you. Very helpful for going around people going under the speed limit in the fast lane on the highway. Throw er in Sport mode and eat my dust!

I shift on the fly but I also let off the gas when I do so. Not sure if it's necessary but I treat engaging 4WD the same way.
Gotcha, yep that makes sense. Thanks for sharing. It’s similar with mtn biking how when you shift gears going uphill you want let off just a bit to release the tension and then shift. Maybe it’s the same, doesn’t hurt that’s for sure.

That's how I see it too.

I typically don't get deep in the throttle or even use sport mode, but today found myself needing to rush home to take Jeanie to the ER (appears to be a huge kidney stone). I don't know what gear it was in at the time, but from a straight acceleration into traffic I was able to chirp the tires as I pulled away from work.

Sport mode will definitely bring the acceleration!

Been thinking about it but being in the hospital has just eaten up any play money I might have had.

So.
Can't find a stone.
Jeanie is in a LOT of pain.
Looking for blood clots now so as to explain the pain.

Hope they figure out what is causing the pain for Jeanie quickly.

Thanks to all.
We are going home.
Can't find a stone.
No clot.
Extra pain meds so she's eased up some for now.
Frustrating.

There will be no Sport Mode going home...
