So since its been so hot I've been starting my truck about 5 minutes before I get off work to cool it down some. Yesterday it wouldn't start..said it was already running. Tried several times and even rebooted my phone , but same results. What to do?

Unfortunately the app will be wired sometimes. Don't ask why. Just have to deal with it. If your truck did not come with the remote start button on the key fob you can add it with start x remote start. It will let you remote start by pressing the lock button 3 time or hitting lock unlock lock to start and keep it quiet.

I know you rebooted, but did you also press Stop in the app when it showed that it was on (you probably did)?

Did it have that as an option or the main button still said Start and then it said it was running. That would seem like an odd combo, but like others have said, the app can be wonky (it certainly has been for me).

My app sometimes gets the "some features are disabled" message but much less often now that I routinely use a battery tender.

I ended up installing a Start-X remote starter on mine because I like to cool it down in the summer and warm it up in the winter. It was an easy install into my XL and has worked flawlessly for over a year (but you have to be within 100 feet or so).

If you have $99 to burn on yet another Ranger thing: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07F422Y98

Also, if the issue persists, you may try deleting the app and reinstalling it.

If android you can swipe down in Ford Pass and it will communicate with the truck again.

It has happened to me too. Just like all software, none of it runs perfectly. I just restarted my phone and all is good with the world again.

My interest has piqued, what's the install like?

Yeah, mine works probably 95% of the time. It is definitely handy when it's this freaking hot.
As others have said, swiping down usually refreshes everything.

Really easy. It plugs into the ODB port, but inline with it, meaning you unplug the back of the OBD port and place this in between the wiring harness and the part of the ODB used by technicians. So it doesn't interfere with the port at all.

Then there's a little switch on the box of the part of the Start-X for if you want it to be 3X Lock or lock-unlock-lock for your start sequence.

It was easy to program, I remember you had to wait for a light to come on - maybe after clicking your remote?

These are their videos, but neither is for a Ranger but I think the top one is what I used.

Now there is a different Start-X for push button starters or keyed start like mine.

I only did the programing once and it's held, even after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

I use my remote start in winter months if really cold.
Both myself and coworkers who have the FordPass app experience the same glitch at times , have always rebooted phone for fix.
Never knew about the swipe down refresh, I just tried it with IPhone and app refreshes. Will try that next time it glitches about truck running or failed to start.
Thanks for the info

I think I read awhile back you can only do remote start from the app so many times in a row and then it will require you to use your key or push button start. Mine works 98% of the time so I am pretty happy with it.

Truck is like.. no... it's F'in hot. You get to deal with it as well! Making me sit outside then wanting it to be nice and cool, etc. To hell with your app

Aka. Go talk nice to the truck. Maybe give it a bubble bath. Spring for some nice high tier 93 octane..
