It would be over $2k I'm guessing
Tough to justify at even half that price, IMHO.

I tow often and have no issue stopping every two hours for gas (and a bathroom break). At that point, I am usually just under 1/2 a tank of gas left. I also drive in the PNW where gas stations can be 100+ miles apart (Eastern Oregon, Idaho).

I voted yes. I think anything less than say 22 wouldn't justify the likely cost. 25 gallons would make me very happy.

Price is a huge factor with this.

Would I like a larger capacity tank?

Yes.

Would I pay over $1k for a marginal increase in capacity?

Nope.

Would I pay over $1k for a significant increase in capacity?

That enters into the realm of "hmmmm..."

Agreed on those points. Really just trying to get a feel to take back to potential manufacturers. like 6 out of 7 Ranger owners would be interested. Let them come back with marginal and signifcant options and pricing.

It has to realistically happen first. If nothing has happened by now it most likely won't. Especially with how the world is now.

A 25 gallon tank would be sweet for towing. The 18 gallon tank is fine for driving around empty but the towing range is way too short. Excited to see where this goes.
Yeah, I would love an extra amount of fuel since we tow. The only catch is, I do not want to sacrifice ground clearance either since I also off-road in the truck too. 24-25 gallons would be nice.

I wouldn't pay for a new tank, but I would pay $85 for a Wavian steel 5 gallon tank. If I need more range sans gas station beyond 300+ miles, I'm intentionally in an area to camp and explore. While doing so, I'm in and out of the car a lot anyways, checking stuff out, airing down, setting camp, etc. I don't mind a couple minutes with a jerry can.

That said, a Ranger would be better with a 22+ gallon tank. My Outback also has an 18 gall and gets about the same mileage - or worse when laden with camp gear - than it seems a Ranger gets. I got 19 mpgs with a packed Outback driving lots of dirt in an area where gas stations close at 6pm and might be nearly 100 miles apart. Come to find out, if I filled up at the last available spot, then took off down the dirt roads, I wasn't going 300+ miles before returning to town. The longest stretches are paved, and gas stations seem to occur at a reasonable frequency in all my domestic travels.

Put me down for sure.As long as it doesn't affect ground clearance. The more capacity the better.I hate have to get fuel every week.More range when traveling would be great.

I wasn't setting my top end limit for a 30+ gallon tank, only that I won't invest much in a 6-8 gallon replacement. If 26 gallon is the biggest upgrade, it's not worth the time/money, for my wants.

I have 2 x 18 gallon transfer tanks which will serve my needs well enough. They are more PITA than having one large under-body tank, but far less grief/work than using jerry cans.

A 40 gallon tank is a game changer IMO and cost would be less of a concern with that volume.

Totally agreed here. If it's over 30 gallons, I'm in the "hmmmm..." camp. Less than that it's not even on my radar.

This is a good point.

Does anybody really think a US company is going to take the time/money to R&D this on an outgoing model?

The 6g is right around the corner. Seems to me that this will never get out the "vaporware" stage.

I'd like to see 600-700 mile range while NOT towing. Tank would have to be at least 30 gallons to make a difference to me.

Two things I dislike the most on my Ranger: the braking performance, and the size of the fuel tank.

I'd buy in for a 24+ gallon tank, my 2018 Colorado ZR2 diesel had a 24.5gal tank and got 680 miles on a single tank...

As exciting as the idea of a 25+ gallon tank is, I think the odds of me spending $2k on a tank to have more convenience is basically zero. The tank works, and is free with the truck. I stop all the time to piss anyway, it would just be nice to time my fuel ups at my preferred stations and cheaper prices. I guess chalk this idea up to "wish it came with the truck, and deal with the fact that it didn't."
