Not a DIY guy myself, unfortunately. I'm around Sacramento area and only found 2 truck shops that do lifts/mods, etc. For something that's supposed to be a 2 hour job inc alignment, the shops are quoting me $350+ just to put a level kit on (and alignment). And this is for labor only. I already have the 1" front spacers in my possession.

Is this the going rate for level kit installs? Those that got it done at 3rd party shops, how much did yall pay?

TIA!

Doesn't seem that outrageous. Not sure what hourly rates are in Cali but most shops charge around $100 or so an hour. Plus another $125 or so for alignment. Plus tax, etc.

I'd flip if that was just to install the kit. Throwing in the alignment that isn't horrific or even bad.

I doubt they have a book hour number for that spacer so probably checking time to take a strut out. You may have some wiggle room to haggle if they feel like listening. Might save you like 20 bux.

Wheel alignment and two hours labour - yep - sounds about right to me - skilled technicians don’t come cheap. When that service tech needs someone to interpret their x-ray, PET Scan, MRI, etc. I bet they pay the going rate too.

You got a great deal Dave! They must have been dazzled by that shiny ride of yours.

Seems fair, and I wouldn't try to haggle, that's when the short cuts start.
Not always true. I had a mechanic I worked with for years that just loved to haggle.. but he also started at a silly high price. I think he may have been a real life gnome. No offense to short people but the guy was magic with a wrench and looked like he was out of an RPG half the time. Goggles and leather work vest thing included.

Yeah, I guess you have to feel out the place / mechanic. With any type of work, I try to feel out the company, and look at the price. If the price seems reasonable, and I have established good rapport, I role with it. Too much bargaining to me opens up the possibility of "fuck that cheapskate". This is more important if you wish to make it a long term relationship.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Try Clark Frame & Wheel on Kenroy in Roseville, just off Riverside. Best damn suspension shop around, know their business. I have had work done by them and they are reasonably priced.

Dave, you got one heck of a deal. Outlaw Jeep in North Scottsdale just put the Fox 2.0 front shocks on my sons Ranger this week. The rear shocks were easy, so we did them ourselves. Outlaw hit him up for 3 hours labor at $135/hour, so $405 total. Then the alignment was $130 at a local garage. I'm not sure what the actual time for the install was, but it was no more than 2.5 hours. Also, the local garage that did the alignment, wanted $800 for all 4 shocks and the alignment. I guess he paid North Scottsdale prices.
