Spent a few dollars on my Ranger yesterday. The bug deflector and mud guards were installed three months ago when I purchased my truck. Gotta get the ever popular tailgate damper soon. Think I should invest in a leveling kit? Does it make a difference to the handling of the truck?

Looks nice! I had my truck spec'd with the Fox kit form Ford. VS the stock FX4 setup I feel it is a huge upgrade. The truck feels a bit more planted, and the stature is appropriate now, in my opinion. I felt that the stock suspension setup had a tendency to wallow a bit over bumps. It's got my vote.

Level, lift or keep it the same. All are a personal choice. Improved handling really depends on changing the shocks/struts. You can do that with any of the first three.

Level or lift depends on what you want to do with your truck. On road looks or off-roading. Lots of threads about this. I don't off-road so not my area. Personally I wouldn't mine being able to drop the rear a couple inches, but not easily done. I do plan on changing shocks though, but leaving stock ride hight.

If you’re going to do it do it once. Save your money and get a good pair of adjustable shocks. If you’re patient you can get some savings with sales, coupons or Ford Pass points and a few bucks. You’ll be glad you did and be right onto doing the rears.

I have never heard of a leveling kit actually improving handling on its own. Usually the improvement in handling is a result of improved shock absorbers, which might be a part of some leveling kits. Unfortunately the shocks that come with the FX4 package are not very good. If you replace them with almost any brand you will improve the handling. I put Bilstein 5100s on mine, with no level or lift, and wow the improvement is amazing. It kind of makes me irritated that Ford thinks these shocks on the FX4 are acceptable. And the Bilsteins were made in the USA, not the Philippines, so I made it a little more "Made in the USA," than it already was.

Truck looks great, man! Based on my experience, I would say, hell yes, get it leveled and dampened! Seriously, upgrading the shocks and struts will improve the handling, whether you lift, level, or leave it alone, but I appreciate the raised cabin and increased clearance that comes with a good leveling kit as well. I went with Ford/Fox, but there are lots of other quality kits out there--and lots of other quality threads on the forum evaluating them....

I had my truck leveled and have not noticed a difference in the handling. I do like the looks much better. If you do decide to go with leveling make sure you have the low beams rearmed. I didn't initially and was constantly getting "high beamed", problem solved after rearming.
