You get their 5 included but may have to request they send them to you. I've read where guys have had changes made to a tune an getting it for free.
Yeah I had to ask for the soft shift tunes but they don't charge. Also they automatically turn off auto start stop so if you still want it activated you gotta tell them.

Do I need to install an aftermarket exhaust to benefit from a Livernois tune?

No, there is a lot of gains with a stock setup and well worth it. There's a thread about the tune if you search and has been discussed extensively.

Update this morning on the tune revisions for Livernois.....
I have always run the 91-93 Performance tune with the hard shift as the daily driver for my Ranger. With the new hard shift tune I'm noticing a pretty good bump in the rear end somewhere in the middle gears (5-7). It occurs when you are just easing along, normal acceleration in traffic where your on and off the gas real easy. I normally like a little bump, but not in that range. So the wife drives the Ranger as her daily driver since she is only 20 minutes from the house (trying to keep the mileage down too). So I decided to load the performance soft shift tune and try it out.....Bingo, she loves it and no more bump. I realize our ECU programming is adaptive in some ways but I don't want to go through the learning stage with that significant hit on the tranny/rear diff like it does. I'm going to give Anthony a call this week to find out what they changed in the programming. I have to say I liked the old hard shift tune better...IMO, as always... ;)
Sure does not change the way I feel about Livernois tuning.....I LOVE it!

I have run the tow tune, the performance (91-93) tune and now soft shift performance (91-93) tune. I personally prefer the soft shift. Seems to have as much power boost as the standard performance but a smoother drive. All about personal preference!

Just got back after my maiden voyage with the 87-89 soft shift performance tune and I can tell you that WOW, that was different. Different in a great way. All the surging at shift points is gone. Feels so much more like the progression through gears as our Explorer ST with the 10 speed. Low speed groan seems to be better addressed with a more natural downshift under 30 mph. Gonna put some highway on it tonight and see how it goes, but so far so good!

The soft shift towing is pretty good and smooth. Rpms usually stay around 2000 at a steady speed. It will go up to 3k when your accelerating and up to 3.5 if you're needing to gun it. Performance is lacking though because it's a tow tune. I don't feel the boost as much when trying to speed up. Overall it a good tune if you need to haul a trailer around every day. It shifts pretty smooth like the soft shift tunes. I'll keep the tune installed for another day or so to see if there's any other thing I notice. Mpg is still pretty good. I think I was getting an instant 25 mpg at 65mph.

Switched to the soft 91-93 tonight .... and .... not much different from the performance 91-93...a little softer shifts but still the surge at partial throttle but more firm at full throttle. Lots of power and a ton of fun... actually feels stronger than the v3 but prefer the 87-89 soft for daily though...I'll keep testing...

Sounds like the tune I would run on a daily potentially.

I haven't updated my tunes since May 2021, after reading the updates on this thread I messaged them. They said I had the most current version/revision of the tune already installed

I have had all of the tunes except the E30 tune. They also said they were working on an E85 tune

I like running the Towing tune, I don't switch around after almost bricking the truck

How did you almost brick the ecu?

I guess just by chance, at the time I was seeing LSPI with the performance tune so I was switching around the tunes. Two times it failed to write the file and I had to reinitiate it. Trying to start the engine may have caused damage at that point. Luckily Livernois has built in recovery software and was able to write the tune. Sure was scary for a minute though

After discussing with Livernois at the time, it is best to have the truck warmed up and battery fully charged, crack a window, turn off ALL the accessories (radio, lights, AC, nothing plugged, etc.), your phone's bluetooth, tell everyone around you to piss off for 20 min and then shut the truck down and install the tune
