I hate you all. Going to pull the trigger on this very soon.

I hate you because the wife is gonna kill if she finds out.

Worth it to get the Ranger as quick as my stock Genesis coupe was.. but with more utility! Maybe that will save me....
Put her behind the wheel and she'll love you again.

Have you noticed the tow tune is weaker till 2800 rpm’s? Just looking at the chart stock made more hp and torque till then. Which sucks cuz I Cruze at 2200rpms
I have had the tow tune for about 35,000 miles and I havent notice such issue. If anything the dyno graph Livernois has is a bit weird at the end with all the sign waves

This is why my truck is currently stock and will stay stock.

My Livernois tuner bricked my truck more times than I can remember, once creating a CEL after recovery that couldn't be cleared and required a trip to the dealer.

I had multiple instances where the recovery failed and I was sure that a tow to the dealer was upcoming, but it eventually did recover. Probably after adding 12 flashes to the internal flash counter ?

After that, it has been in the box on the shelf ever since.

It is very unlikely to get reinstalled as I fear it will eventually brick it to the point it can't be recovered.
I have been leaning more and more to getting the Livernois tune, but this kind of talk scares me.

So what happens when you have the Livernois tow tune, and you select factory tow mode?

All the tow mode button does from the factory is simply change the shift parameters for the truck. It's still preferred to use that when your Towing. The tow tune simply gives you more power but focuses on efficiency over max power

So you would drive in the tuned tow mode for daily driving, then add factory tow for actually towing?

The tow/haul button just changes the shift pattern a bit and allows you to take advantage of engine braking.

I get that, but what I don't get is when would one use the factory tow mode if they are using the Livernois tow tune.

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Most have no issues but you will see some mentions of the truck getting bricked.

Mine bricked my truck the first time I installed it and then multiple times afterward.

I spent 2 weeks unable to drive my truck at all due to a Crank Position Sensor CEL caused by the tuner. Livernois tried to be helpful but the problem persisted so I took it to the dealer. By the time I was able to drive it again the 30 day return window was over so I have a $500 shelf decoration that I am hesitant to ever install again.

If I had it to do over I would've done the FPP.

Yes, it would cost more and maybe provide less ultimate power, but currently I have a cost of $500+ with absolutely Zero benefit.

Once again, most seem to have no issues but I think it's important that I let people know that it's not without its pitfalls.

Caveat Emptor.

I think my tuner just hates my truck.

Simply for the fact I'm not looking for max power. Also I have a truck. I'm going to put stuff in the bed or put a trailer behind it. Better for efficiency over max power on that.

I will also add that the tune only increase power and slightly enhances the shifting for daily driving. The tow/haul button makes it easier for towing as it does make the truck more load sensitive.

So you you kinda get the best of both worlds. Tow tune give you some of the extra power but focus on efficiency and is safe for DD. When you need to tow, you can then use factory tow button which will have truck hold gears longer and be more optimized for towing. Plus with the tow tune you can use 87 for daily when not towing or more if you want more power/TQ and then switch to highest grade in your area up to 93 and get that added extra bonus while towing. TO bad there is not a soft shift tune for towing :p

Lol the tow tune actually uses the soft shift. It just takes a while for the learning to happen due to the nature of the 10R80
