How to add Lariat heated mirrors to an XLT

Yeah, stinks. They are manual fold. In my F-150, the wiring is all there, adding telescoping and power fold is just buying the mirror and coding in Forescan.

The Ranger has BLIS, puddle, and heat, so I'll have to find out how to add power fold. I haven't seen that write up, but admit I haven't looked that hard yet.

The heated mirrors aren't included in the 2021 XLT 302A, probably applies to '19 & '20 as well. They are in the 2022. I could go back further, but I'm lazy. Please send your request written in pencil on the back of a $100 bill along with a self addressed stamped envelope.

Otherwise, for all Lariats and '2022 XLTs w/302A, the heated mirror function turns on with the heated rear window defrost is turned on; there is no separate heated mirror switch.

Pretty sure 2022 is a mistake - 2019 originally showed included as well. Ford seems to be terrible about getting documentation correct.
I doubt Ford gave more in later years!

You are probably right. When I was looking at my 21, their brochure said 302 w/ power folding also had heat. But it doesn't.

I have a 21 tremor 301A, I'm just going to replace the mirror glass as i can't find any good deals on mirrors plus i don't need the other options. Is removing the glass difficult?

I never pulled mine, at least on the Ranger.
Buy the heated glass so you can get an idea of what to expect.
Or better yet head to the junk yard and look for some destroyed mirrors to play around with.
I will check if the factory manual details glass replacement. Attached

Yeah good point - I have found some other situations where my 2019 has a wire, but later models do not.

you might start with the fuse block - see if the fuse is there and if it has power when the defrost is on. I have more detail in the 1st post, or 2nd?

I just thought of something and maybe i missed it in this thread or it wasn't covered. If you are adding just the glass to a XLT mirror wouldn't you have an extra wire to run from the glass to the connector plug on the mirror side? i'm assuming the XLT connector doesn't have the pin on the mirror side for defrost.

probably correct - you would hae to run the 2 wires from the glass

I just recently scored a set of 2019 Lariat mirrors for $425. My truck is a 2020 xlt. I would assume that your wiring diagrams would apply the same to the 2020?

Yes it should - BUT Ford has removed a lot to save $$. But that will only really apply to the heat line. Everything else should be there.
And the heat can be done multiple ways if the wires re no longer there.

And good price on the mirrors!
