First was the silly leather parking brake boot that sucks.
The parking brake boot is silly, but if you consider how many people might have gone back to the dealer over it, how many service hours were charged, how much paperwork was filled out, the total probably comes to more than ford spent on the parts in the first place. That's the kind of stupid shit that costs them their profit margin. It's a trivial problem, but it also should have been a trivial cost to avoid through better QC. And instead of keeping their eye on that ball, they're trying to make up the difference by taking out tie downs.

Upfitter switches didn't work from the factory. It was harder to find a competent dealership that could fix it than it was to fix it. Service paperwork said that a connector was found to be unplugged.

Honestly, I don't think it is unusual for ANY vehicle to have at least one visit to the dealer after purchase for SOMETHING. That is why I suggested a change to the poll to indicate the SEVERITY of the issue that it went back for.

There does seem to be some commonality for sure.
Statistically a vehicle is most likely to have issues during the warranty period. It is referred to as early life failure and is a characteristic of all manufactured products. For the past 20 years I worked for a defense contractor and to get around the early life failures we did stress screening of ordnance products to force the early life failures to occur at the factory before shipment. Commercial products get a warranty.

If you look at JD Powers initial quality numbers the very best vehicles are around 90 defects per 100 cars and the very worst are around 200 defects per 100 cars or .9 to 2 per car. Since there is no fractions of a defect you can statistically expect 1 defect for a good vehicle or 2 defects for the worst vehicles.

Warranty ends in July...zero issues. Probably buy the Ford Protect just in case, but I only use it for Home Depot runs and snow days for work and I don't force any issues with it for years.

Only issue so far was for child seat attachment recall. Simple fix , but what a pain. Took it for inspection. Then returned for repair and they didn't have correct part. Third time I returned they wanted to keep for the day. After arguing they corrected the recall in 35 minutes. All the visits were with appointments. Truck has been great otherwise.

Purchased a dealer demo in Feb 2020. Truck had 1200 miles on it. Any warranty item had already been done by Lakeland Ford.

No issues until September 2022 when I noticed an oil leak. Truck had 22,258 on the Odom and factory warranty would run out in October. Franklin Ford, in Franklin, NC diagnosed that the oil separator was leaking.

This diagnosis was on a Friday. Service writer said part would be in the following Monday. Well, it was three Mondays later when the part came in. Good thing to as we were getting awfully close to our return trip to Florida.
By the way, apparently the oil separator appears to be new and improved as it looks completely different from the original.

Got it May 2019. 20,047 miles (about 10,000 towing). Had a recall for a brake light plug, but all was fine. Only actual warranty work done was when the steering wheel came loose. Otherwise, all has been great.

I was wondering, my is back again, fairly long list, trans, Sync, brakes, belt trim, door handle, console lid, the common ones, it's 22k now, and this is the 3rd time back.

I absolutely love the truck, I would even buy it again knowing I could have some problems, it's perfect for me, hauls ass, gets good MPG, drives like a small car, fits in compact parking spots, really important here overcrowded So Cal, it's just a great truck in my opinion, except the laundry list of warranty repairs, unfortunately I have a opposite example in the driveway, the wife and kids have all driven Honda's for years and they rarely go back for warranty work.

With all the Ford quality issues in the media these days, Farley barking at the workers to do a better job, also blaming it on parts supply issues and supplier quality, and all the recalls as well, it's a little frustrating when your vehicle mfg is in the news so much.

So I just got to wondering how this group does, is it one out of ten, one out of a hundred that has had to go back?

I started out just to ask a question, but then I thought "why not try the poll thing" never did one before, so here it goes!
I took mine back for a gateway module shortly after I bought it but that is it.

I've had a few minor issues with the software, including the backup camera that stopped working for a few weeks and one time the system crashed whole booting. But these issues have resolved themselves without a trip to the dealer. So far, it hasn't been back. 2022 Tremor with 10.5k miles.

I voted No, but that's only with respect to the factory warranty. I have the Ford ESP, and did need to use that for an APIM replacement - not long out of factory warranty.
