Hi Joel. I can't remember what the reasoning was, but I seem to remember something like the truck needing to be turned off and the nightlight working on the second use.

In the beginning I tried using the button but had issues remembering to use it which usually frustrated me and only confirmed my advanced age. :crazy: I needed something memory proof. Hence the super expensive led light option.

I also invested in a led night light and it has kept the ass off for 5 years now. (:
