I'm pretty sure there's a couple threads on here JUST on Livernois revisions.

I had 153k on my UL Tuned Focus ST when I sold it 3 years ago....as far as I know it's still going and still tuned.
Landis....
I only know of 1 revision to the Livernois tune bundle since I have had it installed the last couple of years. My point was stability and safety with our engines and transmissions. Livernois does not do customer requested revisions unless something (a problem) was found in the programming and then they would change it for everyone. I'm not sure I've heard of anyone blowing up a Ranger motor running a Livernois tune.....but I have with the Unleashed.
Just my opinion.....surely not worth much....lol.

I thought it was a 5 Star that blew up? Do you have a link to the Unleashed one?

That seems dangerous to me....Livernois doesn't do that for good reason.....IMHO as always
A canned tune like Livernois, SCT or Ford Performance are perfectly appropriate for an otherwise stock engine. It's when you start making engine mods beyond a cat back exhaust or a CAI the stock or canned tune actually are the ones that become dangerous and a custom tune is the only way to stay safe.

Any reputable tuner like Unleashed won't make mods to your tune without you first providing data logs of what the engine is doing.

Livernois does not due custom tuning because it is not their business model to get involved in reviewing data logs and doing custom tunes. That is their good reason.

Maybe a dumb question, but what happens to the terrain management modes when tuned? Do they still adjust settings after the new tune is loaded?

Mine function normal and I have a Livernois tune and I'd guess the Unleashed tune does the same. Depending on what/where I'm off-roading I'll flash back to the stock tune but 75% of the time I leave it tuned.

Yes Brother Dave....1 revision, but not customer requested revisions. I'm not sure what was revised in the Livernois tune bundle. I did know of that because I too updated. My whole issue is stability with our trucks. You know how stable our Livernois tunes are.....I don't think the same about others. IMHO as always.
btw....I figured this would open up a can of worms......(not really intended)
As a person about to purchase a tune I'm curious as to why you think Livernois is more "stable."

I think you might be confused on this. Care to point me towards this truck?

Only one I saw blow up on here had a 5-Star tune installed (the owner swore and swore it wasn't the tune, but it was obvious from the damage that LSPI was the culprit. Maybe the tune? Maybe not?). I switched them when their tune revisions/service started getting crappy and switched to Unleashed. Torrie makes safe, smooth, powerful tunes. Works with you tirelessly to get you what you want and has customer service second to none. I am sure Livernois is great too, as well as some others. Just no experience with them personally. I just know Torrie has been tuning Ecoboost 4cyls for some time now.

Never understood all of the argument over tuners. They all pretty much offer similar numbers. It is really down to service, preference, price, and reliability.

The only bad experience for me in years of doing this is with 5-Star. Hate to say it, but for me it was not good.

If I recall correctly, Torrie used to be at Mountune before unleashed, so yeah a rather good track record of him tuning the Ecoboost platform. Everyone used to swear by his tunes in the Focus ST crowd.

I personally am more comfortable working with a tuner that requires a data log before fully giving you the green light. I ended up going with Stratified for my Focus ST tune, and after a couple data logs that motor ran great. So when it comes time for me to tune my Ranger, you can bet I'll go with a tuner that will work with you and review your individual data logs.

Yes, datalogs are required to get things narrowed down safely. I use Stratified on my MS3. Excellent as well. No Ranger support though.

It was not an Unleashed tune......Forgive me for starting anything....I just knew it was not a Livernois.
No stirring of the pot intended....

I'm still running the no skip tune you worked on with Torrie, he made a small adjustment for me, but this is the best tune I've run in the Ranger.

Yes, I mentioned the wrong tuner.....it was 5-Star, not Unleashed.....
Sorry to all of you Unleashed folks out there.....no bad vibes intended...

Doug, as far as stability.....I have no personal info on the Unleashed tuning. I guess they do customer requested tweaks to their tune/tunes. I have had the Livernois hottest tune (91-93 Octane Hard Shift Performance tune) installed in my Ranger for 60K+ with absolutely no issues....not a single hiccup or anything negative. We have had 1 revision that I know of and it didn't change anything I could notice. I consider their product very safe! I have changed my driving habits a bit with the Ranger but I can tell you I have been very hard on the truck in terms of pushing the performance. I swear she runs as good or better than day 1.....Love my truck and couldn't imagine driving it without the tune I have installed......how's that....lol.

btw...I have flashed my ECU many times back and forth from stock to performance with no problems....
