How are your tunes affecting your gas mileage?
Hasn't been long enough yet, but the short term shows improvement. I'm going to let it run for a few tanks to make sure any learning has taken place, then track.

Yup, that's what I did. It's a great deal. I put the plugs in (not required, but I think worth it) and kept the t-stat out for now. Going to see how it handles hot weather before I dump my brand new coolant and have to burp the system.

What tuner did you get then?
I asked Torrie for his used inventory and got a discount on an SCT unit I believe. Works like new.

EDIT: BDX not SCT. My mistake.

Question: Why am I too paranoid and neurotic to tune my Ranger? ?
I was, shall we say, not "paranoid and neurotic" but concerned and careful about possible issues with tuning and so I waited until the Ford Performance Tune Kit for Rangers came out before doing it. I figured that it would be the safest, most vehicle-specific compatible tune. Also, if something went wrong, I would know where to go with my issues. As it turns out, my post-tuned Ranger runs great, shifts great, it has more power, and there are no issues at all! I cannot speak for any of the other tunes out there, but I can say based on personal experience, that if you do the Ford tune, you will end up with a ... betta Ranga!

Gas mileage?? I installed my Unleashed tune 1.5 months ago and my mileage is a bit worse. However we have had a really cold and rainy winter so that I am sure plays into the worse mileage. For me too it's only 4 miles to work and this is my daily driver so it's not going to get super mileage around my town. I will know better from May-September. It seems like everyone gets better or the same MPG with all of the tunes (Unleashed, Livernois or Ford Performance).

Unleashed is the best IMO! And I have tried a lot. I am running the Torquerules No Skip Shift (doesn't bypass 2nd gear) and It's great! I installed the tune with probably 3000 miles on my tuck and I'm now at 61,000 and zero issues.

Torrie also tunes my last 2 vehicles, both Focus ST's and he knows how to get SAFE usable power out of an Ecoboost engine.
