Well this blows, I just got off the phone with Ford Customer Service, I finally broke down and called them to open a case number. Anyway, the person I spoke to was very nice and looked up everything done to date and noted that a Ford Engineer had recommended an HPFP and injector change back in May and that is the last time they had been contacted by the dealer? The dealer has been telling me they spoke to a Ford engineer a week ago Friday, when I was in for service for this issue, and they recommended a Ford Engineer look at the truck, and that they are waiting to hear back from Ford to schedule it. The person I spoke to said there was no contact since May and that they would look into it and escalate the situation. I am losing faith in yet another Ford dealer.

Sad the dealer shining you on like that, but good that Ford is now involved and aware of the situation.

Hope you get it worked out.

Sorry you guys are having issues. I decided to go ahead and get rid of mine. I couldn't deal with the vibration and the real bad shudder I was experiencing between 1-4th gear. I also started getting higher level oil due to the fuel and I shouldn't have to deal with this with a brand new Truck with the dealer giving me the run around. I got the truck I originally wanted (due to covid) it wasnt in stock at the time. 2020 Nissan Frontier Midnight Black Edition. Im not having any of the issues I was having with my ranger but I ended up losing about 600.00 trading it in and getting this truck. I wish you all, best of luck.

I also wish you Good Luck with your Nissan.

Every manufacturer has good ones and bad ones.

My brand new 2018 Frontier Pro4X was horrendous, while my 2011 Frontier was a great truck.

The HPFP is the only real issue I've had with this one in 8 months of ownership, and fortunately I seem to have a pretty good Ford dealer (my Nissan dealer sucked).

I traded the Pro4X in 6 months.

Well, I dropped my truck off at the dealer yet again. I asked them what tests they were going to run and they told me that Ford wants them to inspect the cam lobe that drives the HPFP. The Ford engineer said that there are only 2 causes of the fuel getting in the crankcase, injectors or HPFP, both of which were changed already. I really hope they can fix it as it seems worse than ever now. With a little over 400 miles since they changed the oil on my last trip to the dealer on 7/31 and the level was about 1/4in above the max hole when I dropped it off.

Please keep us up to date on what they do next to resolve the problem. Mine goes to just under the upper hole and stops, 750 miles now at that level!

Ack! I'd forgotten about this thread and after reading it, I checked my oil. Smells like gas and its just over the max fill line. Have an appointment at the dealer to have the oil changed. 4600is miles on it.

I changed my oil at 8500 miles and drained a full 7 quarts. Replaced with 6 quarts, drove 200 miles, and then decided to go to dealership to report issue. Noted my dip stick reported full at fill time. Didnt look at my dip stick after 200 miles as I knew dealership would discount any information I would supply since I did my own service.

And as I suspected, they brushed off the following facts: 1) I drained 7 quarts from truck 2) that used oil has a strong fuel odor, and 3) fuel can be smelled at dip stick. It is so freaking obvious the fuel odor. Had to sit down with shop foreman, pay for them to drain my full synthetic Eneos 5w-30 oil w/ 200 miles on it, replace it with motorcraft synthetic blend, and put a plan in place to prove that fuel is getting into the oil. I am set to return to dealership in 500 miles to see how much fuel has made it into their new oil.

If your dip stick is reading high, do not do not do the oil change yourself. Pay the dealer to do it and tell them to measure the amount of oil they drain. Hopefully this will put you on a fast track to resolve the issue rather than having to prove twice that a problem exists.

Will do, I just got off the phone with the dealer and they told me to keep the loaner another day as they haven't figured it out yet. They said that they have done all the tests that Ford has asked them to do and they all checked out good. They know that fuel is getting to the crankcase, but they can't figure out how.

Update, my truck has been at the dealer for a week now, I got a call from the dealer today and they said Ford wants them to replace the injectors again. I hope it works this time. I had also asked them to look into my AC that has not been working and inquired if they had addressed that. I was told they would look into that when they get back to working on the truck. I guess one problem at a time. They have been working on the fuel in oil problem for over 4 months now and they still have never performed a leak down test. That bewilders me?

Truck is still in the shop, I was told the injectors were on backorder and that they just came in and now a gasket they need is on backorder. I asked what the gasket was for, but the service writer did not know. He said they were tracking one down from another dealership.

I can say for sure about the selection of oil that should be based on the opinion of experts here and must be selected taking into account what kind of car you have, by brand, by wear and so on. For example, I still have a Ford f150 from my father, and of course it was necessary to choose a good oil, which would be most suitable for him. It is very difficult to pick up, and I do not trust the service station here, so I found the information about oil for ford f150 https://carfluidsexpert.com/top-7-best-oils-for-ford-f150/ and already used it. Fortunately, I really managed to find such an oil, which was just right. If you'll look for it too, then look at its parameters and choose from the top, but I'm taking now Motorcraft Semi-Synthetic 5W-30, as it is just the easiest for old cars with mileage over 400000 and so on.
