After reading some other posts here, I thought I'd mention the bottle jack that @AzScorpion got me hooked on. It's expensive but US made.

The first one I got leaked but they immediately, without hassle, made good on it. Even though I bought the jack via Amazon, the president of US Jack emailed me to make sure I was happy.

I carry it in a Swingcase along with the extension kit also suggested by that AzBugGuy. =D

David, It looks like everything I suggest you buy. ? Where were you when I was selling my house???

Btw that is a really nice setup. Who'd have thought mine is exactly the same which I carry in a small tote with a set of jack stands, torque wrench and a breaker bar. ?

If you’re curious.

Thanks! Now I know what to look out for in a jack. Mine is a gazillion years old and doesn’t look like much but it works and doesn’t leak. When it comes time for me to buy a new floor jack, I will likely get kicked out of the store for opening all the jack boxes and inspecting the welds.

Go to a junk yard and get a bottle jack out of a 1/2 or 1 ton. Or get a cheap one for your local auto store. Absolutely zero need for an entire rolling floor jack in the back of your truck. Hell, even the little widow maker jack is plenty for changing a flat.

I agree with not having/wanting to carry a huge heavy floor jack. That's why I like the unijack. It is basically a bottle jack merged with a jack stand. You get the compactness of a bottle jack and the safety and bigger base of a jack stand. Both bottle jacks and the pressed tin OEM Jack's can be unstable on uneven/soft ground. When I'm working around and possibly under a jacked vehicle, I want it on a stable base.
