Compliance Recall 19S23

Select 2019 Model Year Ranger Vehicles
Right-Front Seat Belt Assembly Issue

Affected Vehicles:

Vehicle: Ranger
Model Year: 2019
Assembly Plant: Michigan
Build Dates: June 18, 2018 through June 18, 2019

Reasons for this Compliance Recall:

Ford Motor Company is issuing a safety recall for select 2019 Ranger SuperCab vehicles for the right-front seat belt. In affected vehicles, the right-front seat belt may have been improperly assembled. Improperly assembled seat belts may not adequately restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.

This action affects approximately 7,580 vehicles in the United States and federal territories and approximately 400 in Canada. Affected vehicles were built from June 18, 2018, to June 18, 2019, at Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.

Service Action:

Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the right-front seat belt assembly. The Ford reference number for this recall is 19S23.

I have this exact issue on my 2020 build date 9/20, over a year after the recall date. Maybe somebody found some defective seat belts lying around and didn’t want them to go to waste? The webbing needs to go thru the eye, instead it was just held in place for a while by the plastic housing

Hi Alpha,

Open up a formal complaint with Ford Customer Care. Get a case number and take this to the dealer for remedy. Ford needs to know this is also on 2020 model vehicles.

Good luck!

I submitted the info with the NHTSA sorta just to see what would happen and I go a call in two days. The guy is concerned since it appears that this safety defect apparently wasn't corrected. Now I have no idea if I'm the only one with a defective seatbelt, but I do know that if I had a SCab I would go yank on the passenger seatbelt and see if it comes out, since if you don't carry a lot of passengers you would have no way to know by looking at it if you had this defect. I don't know if it's done on this board but I think if a mod can highlight that it might be useful.
As a side note the dealer says the new belt will arrive in 4 days which is pretty good if it happens.

Just got this notice in FordPass. Looks like any passengers are going to have to suck it in and hop in the back until this is fixed...

Got recall notice in the mail yesterday. They have pictures recommending you yank on your seat belt.

It's really easy to see if your truck has this problem.

is this the same exact location for ranger tho? the video is for an f150. my 2021 supercab looks good on both sides AND my vin shows up as part of the recall. i am wondering if some got it right and some didn't inside that vin range?

Must be a misread of your VIN...

I received this in the mail today too - I’ll check it in the morning and call my Service Advisor to set up a time for them to check - I’m not the expert that needs to make the call on this. I’m confident I could, but those who know me, know that I carry precious cargo, so I’m not taking any chances.
