Biggest tires, no lift?

Aftermarket wheels and probably have less backspace. I have 265/70-17 Coopers on the stock wheels and no issues, plenty of room between the crash bars.

Local tire shop has these. How is the ride and noise?

Not bad. They are more audible than stock but that’s not a concern. Isn’t distracting.

Only reason I didn’t really factor that was because my brain said “you’re going an inch smaller” so oh well. I’ll get it fixed. Only gonna cost me $100 more for the new crash bars.

Well shit. After looking through this forum religiously I went with 265/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja Boss and don’t get me wrong I LOVE them but they rub. Where? The front crash bar. Never once I remember seeing that be an issue. I was worried about the rear. I have a Eibach lift going on hopefully next week so I’ll have the shop help with removing them. Just sharing and still love the way it looks! Thanks!

Try to loosen the crash bars and push them forward on the front and back on the back. Also, I have no understanding why there is a plastic shroud on the front but not the back. 2 pop fasteners and those come off the front. It took me under a minute to have them off.

Yeah my screw stripped so I popped them both off but they still rub. They rub even with them being cut. Pissed but hoping the new bars I am getting fixes the issue. Thanks!

Folks, he’s right!

Take off those plastic covers, loosen those front bars and angle them forward with a hammer - I bet you get at least a 1/4” more room.

Ordered new rubber today. Went with milestar patagonia A/T R in 265/65/18. Simpletire.com had good pricing, then 20% off on top of that. $675 to my door for 4, will have to drop ~$100 or so for mount and balance. have not bought tires in a while, they sure have jumped up in price (as has everything else).

I’ve got a stock FX4 setup, with the exception of FOX 2.0’s in the rear. I’d like to put a larger, more aggressive tire on the stock 18 inch gloss black wheels, but keep the stock ride (yes, the rake, I know). 265/65 R18 seems to be a no-brainer, and I can reprogram the speedo with my ProCal box, but I’m really interested in 285/60 R18’s with spacers. Has anyone seen this done? What size spacers work? And rubbing with just spacers? Will this look dumb with the stock ride / rake?

I don't think I remember anyone saying that the 265/70/17 rubbed. They must be a true 32" where mine (Nitto Ridge Grapplers) are 31.6". They do look good and make sure all your driving is in a straight line until you get the lift on. lol

Likely a wheel offset issue, especially with those shoulder lugs. Might still be an issue after the lift kit. Even the stock tires would rub if you push them out far enough.

My brain wasn't working that day and I didn't think about the offset.

I’m with you. I have a 1.8 inch level but couldn’t find a straight answer on if 265/70/18 would fit. I’ll likely just do 276/65/18 when it’s time to be safe.

Just got Toyo OpenCountry AT III 265/70 R18s installed today, have a 2" level and they fit just fine no rubbing, have about half an inch maybe more between the tire and front crash bar at full lock.

Another confirmation on fitment with 265/70/17 (just under 32") whereas OEM is 265/65/17 (30.6"). I went with Falken Wildpeak AT3W - with a set being $500, can't beat the value. There's no rubbing at full lock when static, but I will note that when I zipped into a parking space, I heard a little bit of rubbing when the suspension compressed a little bit. Not too worried but I wouldn't go bigger without a lift.

I'm also surprised at how much of a difference I felt on the road. Truck feels a little more sluggish with the heavier tires and I feel the extra inch of ride height when driving too. I also just went to the off road park a few weeks ago with the OEM Hankook's, and I'll be going again this weekend with the Falken's, so I'll update with a comparison!

Sorry to go back to a post from four years ago, but I just bought these same tires. My Ranger is the exact same as this, but isn't FX4. Is mine not being FX4 going to affect the fit at all? I plan to get a level kit, but probably not for a month or two.
