Anyvody here driven a Maverick and Ranger back to back?

Recently had surgery and listening to the people in pre-op run through their litany of health issues my only thought was What in the h*** am I doing here?
67 and spent one other night in the hospital...when I was 4. Going to try not to do it again for at least another 60.

I was talking with one of the workers at the shop yesterday while getting my oil changed. He was telling me how the heat is really getting to him (nauseous and weak) but mostly because of all the meds he's taking. After telling me what he's on I thought wow, he's younger than I am and in way worse shape. I swear most of these meds they put you on add to the problems you have.

There's a commercial out now on tv for people who have tardive dyskinesia. It's a drug-induced movement disorder from taking specific medications, often for a mental health disorder. They now have another pill for you to take to counter the side effects from the meds you're taking for it. ?‍ There's so many holistic treatments available now that big Pharma just doesn't want you to know about or screw you into not taking them. They'd rather poison you with meds and profit from it! Essential oils and Chinese herbs have been around for generations and work very well for most things. It's not a guaranteed cure all but I'd go that route before popping pills.

Ha I was a little afraid my comment would offend. Actually, I'd say he's elderly based on his physical health condition. There have been some setbacks. But no, 75 is not elderly per se.

I agree, the big pharmacy has created a bunch of hypochondriac, and a lot of the doctors are no better. They give you drugs for one thing, then give you more for the side effects. All the drug adds on TV don't help either. They should not be able to advertise drugs that require a prescription to get.

My FIL before he pasted was on so many different drugs he was walking zombie, because he had several different doctors for different things. Finally we got got him a good GP who took him off almost everything and just gave him what he actually needed. What a difference.

The only drugs I'm on are the anti-rejection drugs because of my transplant and one for blood pressure. I have a GP I trust and make sure he is aware of any thing my specialists are doing. And I ask questions, is this necessary?

I am a retired military RN and now work at a civilian hospital. All I can say is I avoid medications for myself at all cost. If I need an ibuprofen or something sure, but overall I avoid them. I am not saying they are not needed or don't help at times, but if I don't absolutely need it I stay away.

I opted for a bigger engine which made the price $2400something including white walls. It was a cheap version of a Mustang just like the new Maverick is cheap version of the new Ranger.

Yeah, but not much cheaper. An XLT 2WD will run about 32K.

I just looked over it on Ford build site. Apparently, you can't get the spray in bed liner with the black appearance package. Ford has some weird trim levels.

I believe the Mav is frt wheel drive. Ranger rwd, total truck. Completely different vehicles.

Or you could say that the Mav is AWD and the Ranger is 4WD...which is also true.

I have two issues with the ranger transmission, one of which is shared with the maverick:

1. Only two pedals
2. I actually like the knob shifter in the maverick, rather than the stick.

From a mechanical standpoint, I am not sure what complaint there would be regarding the ranger transmission. It seems fine to me.

night and day, I dont even think of the Maverick as a truck, most of our Rangers could Drag a Maverick up hill with its breaks on and still get good MPG while doing it LOL

Well, he finally received his new Maverick Lariat and LOVES it. I love it too and plan to keep my 2024 no-commitment order. Seems to me it rides like a Fusion but has a pretty useful bed, especially with the tailgate down where it becomes a 6ft bed. Anyway like I mentioned before, Dad will just use it to haul trash to the dump. (rural living yay)

As it turns out, the transmission in the Maverick is very well behaved and performed flawlessly. By comparison, my Ranger's confused and dysfunctional transmission was only made worse by the out-of-balance drive shaft(s) and bouncy suspension. Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and get a Tom Woods driveshaft and some Bilstein shocks to make my truck even tolerable.

Got to ride in my friends Maverick yesterday. His is a 23 Lariet. It is the hybrid. He bought it used from a friend with 8,000 miles on it. Has a 1 1/2 in lift with bigger tires. To me it rides nice more car like. You sit way lower than the Ranger which I don't care for, I like the more up in the air feeling of the Ranger. Those that think the Ranger interior has a cheep feel need to look at the Maverick, I believe the Ranger interior is much nicer. My opinion it is a nice vehicle & will serve him & many others very well for what they are. I will be keeping my Ranger.
