SmartCap wants $4400 for theirs and Dirtbox wants $4750 so there is not much price difference between the most popular and the what I bought. The advantages to Dirtbox are huge. It is very well sealed, no seams, and it comes prewired with power and lighting.
So, what’s the story behind that beer holder?We went camping in Baja, crossed a dry lake bed that was much more lake than dry from the recent rains. Barely made it out of that mess, I got off easy with a sidewall puncture from a stick, it slow leaked and I woke the next morning to a flat. No problem, we carry a full size spare. Later that day I heard an engine revving and found a 2wd conversion van with bald street tires stuck to the axle just outside of camp. I drove over and winched them out. Other than that it was another nice and relaxing trip to Baja.
